Actually surprised it took us this long to bring him in. Natural fit with Bill Callahan here. Played decently in relief at LT last year for Cleveland. Was drafted by Callahan when he was at Washington

They've already given up on Latham at LT!

Another guy that spent time with Callahan Sr. Last year

56 games played, 25 starts since being a 3rd round pick in 2018.

Listing changes back and forth from just tackle to LT.

Lathams backup or is RT a true shit show?

This article says he started 9 games for cleveland last year due to injury.  I'm assuming at LT. I think Dewand Jones played RT.

Probably Callahan Sr. just asking to bring in some of his guys to ensure there is good competition and to give guys he likes a chance. I still think NPF is the favorite at RT but at least now they can have a true competition with multiple options and let the best guy win the spot and still have some decent depth across the roster. Guys are going to go down throughout the season, and Callahan knows that better than anyone after last year. I can't remember the last time we had depth like this across the line and I love it. Now they just need to do the same on the other side of the ball and I'll be happy.

Well, he may be just a camp bod but then so are most of our OTs

Meanwhile the one guy we know who can play tackle at something approaching well is the backup RG.

I have no problem if they think guard is his best position. However you would think you would use him at RT over the garbage we have there.

There must be something about him that OL coaches don’t like and find that limits him from playing RT.  Two totally different offensive staffs have put him at G for whatever reason.

I dont have in depth stats but he seems at least serviceable.

1824 total snaps.

12 sacks given up

12 penalties

So just to estimate.. if over his career half of snaps were passes...

He gives up 1 sack every 76 attempts or less than 1 every couple games in this offense.

Similar for penalties... 1 every 2.5 games or so.

Would be one of our better guys the last couple years! haha.

I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but Radunz had an incredible 3 cone, it was a 7.2 soemthing, which is just off the charts for a lineman. I’ve read that it’s more important for a guard than a tackle because interior play requires a lot of lateral movement. In some ways interior DL pass rush is sometimes like 1 on 1 basketball, where the guy will head fake one way & go the other way. Of course theres also also alot of power & anchor involved inside. But Radunz to me has much more of a tackle frame then guard.

I know Callahan Sr is the best of the best but I also just don’t like this penciling him in at guard, especially when he was just light years better than NPF last year. I almost feel bad ripping on Petit-Frere because he seems like such a nice kid & he at least  didn’t get his ass kicked as a rookie. But the drop off last year was beyond shocking. He got destroyed in preseason by guys who were barely roster players & the little he played against the Ravens & Steelers he made the offense non functional he was so awful. His side just got caved every play. Meanwhile Radunz steadily improved to the point where he was a legit starter the 2nd half of the year, was picked a round earlier, had much better workouts than NPF, and is another year distanced from the. ACL.

Has Callahan seen something in NPF’s technique last year or did he arrive in awesome shape or something? Oh yeah, he’s not practicing.

I mean... did we have any other linemen who went a whole 12 snaps in a row w/o giving up a sack?

Npf for comparison has had 1054 snaps, 12 penalties and 8 sacks. Good for....

A penalty every 88 snaps and a sack every 65 snaps.

Or a sack a game and a penalty every 1.33.
