And the conservative think tank will still come up with a bunch of false misdirection and empty BS excuses as to why Trump’s actions were all perfectly legal and acceptable and what an outrage it is that he was charged and prosecuted. But mark my words: 10-20 years from now, American history will view the whole Trump/MAGA era in much the same light as the Nixon/Watergate era: an embarrassing low point in American politics that ended a lot of careers and landed several people in prison. And those who support him so passionately today will desperately try to erase any evidence of their support while telling everyone the never wanted him in the first place. I agree with the sentiment but we are well past Watergate.

Yeah, he definitely took it to a whole next level. But as of today, Trump still has a very vocal and passionate contingent of MAGA followers who hang on his every word and think the guy can do no wrong. We’re talking about people who literally think he was sent by God to save America from the evil Dems . These people will eventually be ridiculed in the history books…. and 10 years from now, one will be hard-pressed to find a single person who will admit to having been part of the MAGA movement that supported the only POTUS who openly shit on the Constitution and tried to end American democracy. In retrospect, Nixon was an institutionalist and actually gave a shit about his party and the country, and in doing so he was 10x better of a person than Trump. IOW, Trump — enabled by the grifty, unaccountable gop propaganda machine — is 10x worse than Nixon ever dreamed of being. titanruss, Come on Titans, and Number9

reo
Are Trump’s Indictments Rallying His Base? August 15, 2023 at 11:02 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 152 Comments A new study finds that Donald Trump’s indictments have not increased his support among Republican primary voters. Instead, it found that polls suggesting this phenomenon used a bad question format. When the questions are asked correctly, the poll found that indictments actually hurt Trump a little. https://politicalwire.com/2023/08/15/are-trumps-indictments-rallying-his-base/ So Unfair August 15, 2023 at 10:19 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 95 Comments Jonathan Chait: “Maybe, just maybe, the reason Trump keeps getting indicted for crimes is not that the criminal justice system is in the grips of a vast liberal conspiracy but that he is, in fact, a criminal?” https://politicalwire.com/2023/08/15/so-unfair/ they're trying hard but it's not really doing much.
