Elon Musk Buys Twitter

This will be interesting for sure. Jack and Musk appear to be cordial toward one another. Musk likely is the greatest entrepreneur in the history of the world. I would NEVER bet against him to succeed.

I see it from both sides. Pro free speech and pro fake news hurts people. I believe he will find a compromise between the two somehow.

I'm happy as it will likely become another Musk company that adopts Bitcoin as a treasury asset like his other holdings.

He said he will defeat the spam bots or die trying! I can get behind that!

Brussels has warned Elon Musk that Twitter must comply with the EU’s new digital rules under his ownership or risk hefty fines or even a ban, setting the stage for a global regulatory battle over the future of the social media platform.

Thierry Breton, the EU’s commissioner for the internal market, told the Financial Times that Elon Musk must follow rules on moderating illegal and harmful content online after Twitter accepted the billionaire’s $44 billion takeover offer.

Breton said: “We welcome everyone. We are open but on our conditions. At least we know what to tell him: ‘Elon, there are rules. You are welcome but these are our rules. It’s not your rules which will apply here.’”

The comments from Breton, one of Europe’s most influential digital regulators, come just days after Brussels signed off on a new piece of legislation that will force Big Tech to more aggressively police content online.

Musk = Trump except instead of rich father, Musk is the prodigy of Compaq wasting $300 million on a zip code lookup site.

In February 1999, Compaq Computer paid US$305 million to acquire Zip2.[6]: 109  Elon and Kimbal Musk, the original founders, netted US$22 million and US$15 million respectively.[6]: 109  [19] The company was purchased to enhance Compaq's AltaVista web search engine.[7][20]

He took that money and bought some struggling, small bank, then founders of Paypal give him some of Paypal to use that bank as the legal-bank shell for Paypal.    Then for around $5 million he bought Tesla as it started.

I see much more luck than even a small sign of any entrepreneur in that.  He is really no different than a lucky ticket buying lotto winner.

He has built 6 different +1 billion dollar businesses in separate industries. I'll wait for you to name someone with more.

Name them. Because he didn't build Tesla (Obviously he has had a major role to play) and he sure as hell didn't build Paypal. Most of his ventures are because he's a rich man from a rich family and thus can throw money at projects until he can call himself a "founder". He's obviously a good entrepeneur but not even close to the greatest in history

Stop exaggerating. He built SpaceX and Tesla into billion dollar businesses, but not 6. His direct involvement with other businesses were unsuccessful (outside of cashing in as a shareholder).

He deserves credit for his idea of developing cheap, reusable rockets as well as for developing electric cars (it was someone else’s idea, but he did buy into it). Thus far, he has received way too much credit for other things. He’s not Tony Stark. At best he is Steve Jobs.

Be honest. If he were Steve Jobs you'd be looking at any opportunity to blow Jobs...

I have plenty of criticisms of Jobs, too…

Both of them had major successes in terms of both ideas and business. Both of them were largely assholes who were hard to deal with personally. Like Musk, Jobs had a great idea to develop computers early on. Also like Musk, he bought Pixar and funded someone else's vision into great financial success.

It remains to be seen if Musk has Jobs' vision, but we will find out in time.
