Not a puppet, you're a puppet -- maga world just doesn't care because aligning with Russians is a 'good thing'

The US has intelligence that Russia may have delayed announcing its withdrawal from the Ukrainian city of Kherson in part to avoid giving the Biden administration a political win ahead of the midterm elections, according to four people familiar with the intelligence.

Senior Russian officials discussed the US midterms as a factor during deliberations about the withdrawal announcement, one person familiar with the intelligence said. Waiting until after the US election was always a “pre-planned condition” of Russia’s withdrawal from Kherson, a second person familiar with the intelligence told CNN.

Still, the election was far from the only consideration in Russia’s retreat, officials said. Military analysts say Russia had few other operational options and had been preparing to pull back for weeks, leading US officials to wonder when the Russians would officially acknowledge the withdrawal.

"There have been conversations" , given the reach and MO of FoxNews and its even sketchier tributaries, how is this okay?

It's not ok but for it to matter Republicans have to do something about it and they won't.

There's definitely a faction in the GOP (Trumpers) who fully support Russia's meddling in US elections. The Russian oligarch that funds the Wagner group flat out admitted that they do it. As a sidenote, that guy is obviously angling to replace Putin.

Right now in Russia, I'm sure there's a brisk cottage industry in personal security detail to make sure their wealthy clients with post-Putin aspirations don't suddenly fall out of buildings -- along with all the mob-like double crossing.  Good luck collecting the life insurance payouts for those less fortunate.

There's some very interesting stuff showing Prigozhin angling to discredit the Ministry of Defense and prop himself up to gain support from the ultra right wing nationalists in Russia which woul mean he's very possibly angling for more power.

a year ago Putin was easily in the top 3 of the most powerful people in the world.  Now dude looks very vulnerable with a military capability that has been ridiculously exposed.

Andy Biggs got 31 votes against McCarthy (188 votes) in the House nomination vote for speaker.  McCarthy has a long way to go to get to 218.

he'll get there but the price will be steep. The Freedom Caucus will own him.

The high price could also alienate some moderates.  There are some moderates who represent D+ districts or just slightly red districts.

GOP Lawmaker Offers to Work with Democrats for Speaker

Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) told NBC News on that if the GOP Conference can’t agree to elect Kevin McCarthy or any other Republican as speaker on the House floor, then he would be willing to work with Democrats to elect a moderate Republican for the top post.

Said Bacon: “I will support Kevin McCarthy, but if we do get to that point, I do want the country to work and we need to govern. We can’t sit neutral; we can’t have total gridlock for two years.”
