Anyone who thought a 1.9T package that covers a ton was going to get GOP support without cuts wasn't living in reality. Obviously the min wage hike has to go. What else? Maybe agree on targeted stimulus checks to those who lost jobs? Try to work something out of possible while planning for reconciliation. The only problem with using reconciliation is it will take months to go through the process. Also from what I read the other day, the min wage hike would have to be pulled as that can't be part of any legislation that is passed by reconciliation.

Not passing universal stimulus checks would be political suicide. People who went door to door in GA said it was the main reason people voted blue this year. They were explicitly promising $2,000 checks to people.

thats going to get done as part of a trimmed down package or  reconciliation. I would bet on it. I'm really curious how long the 2-3 Democrat Senators who oppose abolishing the filibuster can hold out. They could be responsible for holding up Biden's entire Domestic agenda. I get wanting to try bipartisanship first but there needs to be a time limit. If the Dems squander their advantage they deserve to lose the House and the Senate in 2022. Grow some balls and make people's lives better. Doing so will put the GOP at a severe disadvantage.

There certainly is something to be said for the fact that nuking the filibuster is a double edged sword we may be impaled on if Republicans re-gain control in the near future but you're right. We have to go big or go home now because if we don't deliver Biden gets neutered in 2 years anyways. Can't make the same mistake of playing pat-a-cake with these obstructionists again.

They need to sell it to these guys as nothing passes without your consent. But if there is a filibuster, nothing passes.

It's worth the risk. Passing Voting rights, Healthcare expansion, workings rights, etc... are all things that should increase the number of People who vote Democrat. The idea the Senate is going to return to a bipartisan bloc where you get 60 Senators to agree on anything is a pipe dream. Nevermind the fact the Founders did not design the Legislative branch with a supermajority in mind. The Filibuster didn't come into existence until 80+ years later. It has to go and the only evidence you need is to see how McConnell has hidden behind it for over a decade.

I'm all in bro. You know me though, I get skittish when I have to place trust in conservative dems.

Fox News has gone fucking insane (even by Fox News’ standards) in the past 2 days. They are really going in on Biden and co. like I’ve never seen them do to anyone. 4 years of them using their platform at this level or higher is going to be brutal.

That station, it’s parent company, and the corrupt Aussie family who run it need to be destroyed for the good of humanity.

Desperate to win back the base. I guess they have gone back to Obama-mode...

Here's my prediction.  It doesn't matter how little these people's lives change over the next 4 years, they will claim how awful it is and has been.  Similar to how bad it was under Obama, even though they were fine, only a lot worse.

Now, I predicted in late 2016 that Trump apologists would make Bush apologists look like child's play, and that ended up being the understatement of the century.  How do you think my new prediction plays out?
