If this is the criteria, then no one we’ve had on the team ever mattered. I get the Super Bowl is the ultimate prize, but it’s insanely hard to get there and win. Using that as criteria is just setting yourself up for insurmountable disappointment.

Yeah, no shit....but if you're not here to win the Super Bowl, what the fuck are we doing?

No idea where this nugget fits so thought it might worth starting a thread for all Titans non HC offseason discussion.   This was meant to happen last offseason but Sweat never showed up so

Who will we draft? The answer has been there the whole time.

That’s a lot of hooch

I understand nuance fine.  You tried using one of the dumbest hyperbolic arguments to validate the idea of drafting the least important position at #4.  It was retarded, but coming from you, not surprising.

Lol only bc you figured out where I was going to take it so you knew you had no response.

Now you're as expected transitioning to insults bc that's all you've got left.

Always fun. Just waiting for crossfit jokes. That's when I'll know I've definitely won this exchange.

Its impressive how effortlessly you avoid the actual conversation.  Let me know when/if you want to discuss the actual topic of positional value.

They only did that because we just kept busting his head into a wall. They should have been working on his routes and hands the moment he stepped foot in Nashville.

He was an inside zone runner. Everyone thought bc of his speed that he was an outside zone cutback runner but Dinger ran a lot of inside zone, zone lead and split zone with some outside zone. And bc of that they had him gain mass to survive the workload. A lot of his huge runs were inside zone.

He got a lot of hos big runs from A gap/B gap reads, inside zone cutbacks and backside cutbacks against teams over pursuing bc if his speed.

They just needed to keep his quickness and pair him with a power back.

But after the season was killed when he went down against the ravens at half, they made him gain mass (or he decided to).

So, like I was saying, to use him like that consistently he had to put on weight.

Positional value is over stated. Context in terms of team needs, generational talent and team strategy and player usage are much more important.

I think they should've split hos carries more. He was still an inside zone runner. That's what he was great at. You don't just make him into something else and hope he'll be great at that too.

I didn't say make him into anything else. But instead of 25 carries up the middle those touches should have been distributed a lot more to the passing game, in which case he doesn't need to bulk up.

Yeah I think we mostly agree but its more about which strategy you prefer to use to mitigate the risk of injury. I think they should've split his carries and built the team around him more.

I trust Borgo as of right now, so if that's the pick he makes, then I'll be all in.  Personally, I think a pick as high as 4 should be spent on a premium position unless it's an absolute can't miss prospect.  RB or a RB/WR hybrid isn't a premium position, and I don't see Love as a can't miss prospect.

I did just do a mock draft where I traded down and Love was available at 13, so I took him.  Personally, and it pains me to say this, but Emmett Johnson from NE can be had much later in the draft, and I think he'll be good.  Maybe not as good as Love, but a good back that you wouldn't have to spend a top 5 pick on.

I'm about as anti-RB high in the draft as anyone so I am trying to tell myself that if they take him it's to do a lot more than just carry the ball.  It would have to be because if they're taking him with the idea that he's going to a bell cow carry the ball 25-30 times a game guy it's a waste of both a draft pick and also of the QB's talents.

Definitely should have split his carries more. The Lendale/CJ combination was the right mix.

He didn’t take some huge pay cut. They just turned most of his salary into a signing bonus.

If his cap hit dropped by $11M then he probably took something like a $4M pay cut and converted the rest (minus the minimum salary) into a signing bonus that is divided over 2 seasons.

Anyone who watched CJ knows he didn’t run routes and the passing game yards he did get were 100% dump offs and screens only. That’s what I was referring to.

CJ had several plays where he ran actual routes and cought the ball.

the problem was that the offense asked only for him to run a screen, turn around 3 yards in the middle of the field with a lb on his hip or to run a flare and that's it.

we also had complete shit at QB his entire time here.  Similar story with WR to back the defense off.

He was a converted WR and was never utilized in fishers idiotic schemes.. His whole career here was basically him being used like Henry in the last Texans game where everyone in the stadium knew what was coming and you just hoped he would break a long one. If he didn't, then "he was washed" or "afraid" - much like idiots here thought of Henry at the end.
