When your only job as a coach is to protect the QB in the last game of the season while trying to win.... you dont run read-option plays at the goal line. Of course the D is going to crash more on the RB forcing the QB to carry. There's less room to slide and a higher impact chance . We also all knew they were going to run the ball as soon as the got close. It was a bad play call and a dumb one to put your QB at risk in a meaningless game. Fans suddenly hate the idea and blame the coach as if he knew this would happen. Idiotic People cried for more read option, not RPO. People cried for Cam to use his legs more, you want him taking off when its there on the pass and there is room to slide - not stupidly running your rookie QB into a wall at the goal-line the last game of a completely lost year. They should create a GIF of Ward's injury and send it to Crosby. If I owned the team, I'm sitting anyone without incentives for the rest of the season THE MOMENT we're eliminated from playoffs. They didnt run him into a wall. This year was lost weeks ago. I supposed we should have sat him weeks ago and told him to never run in October because the year was already lost. AussieTitanFan08
42 the final count of the number of times the Titans offense crossed midfield this season and didn't score points. Would love to know how this ranks among the NFL this season and on a historical scale. Given the increased range of kickers now it seems another impressive futility marker from this team over recent seasons. Now if we had cam little and kicked a fg those 42 times as soon as we crossed mid field how many games would we have won? Jeff fisher is asking. Would be exactly what the Chiefs did at G last year where they paid the younger ascending guy in Trey Smith and traded away the expensive veteran in Thuney. You're probably right, I just hope you're wrong. Think they'd go as far as tagging him if he wants to leave?

There's less room to run and the goal line is defended much harder than a random yard line in the middle of the field. The defense is compacted and running downhill hard on all runs there - because inches actually matter in that spot - instead of stringing plays out more or containing a run and being ok with a couple of yards. I dont think we should have sat him and never implied so. I want him getting all the reps he can - as a passer. Especially at the goal line. I also said he SHOULD run when a pass gives him space to run and slide. But designed runs are completely different and especially when its at the goal line and there's almost zero room to slide. It was a bad call. DCTitan

In this thin FA class would be silly to let him walk for nothing except the future potential of a comp pick. Mythos27, and titanruss

It was a bad call. Ward ran to off tackle and the contact wasnt as a result of downhill hard running. He dove for the endzone and a defender dove into him on the tackle leading to an awkward angle on the shoulder. You act like he ran a QB dive between center and guard leading to a hard hit. Its not what happened. So if he scrambled and that exact thing happened you would be OK with it? Mmkay. Guess when we were eliminated from playoff contention we should rule out all designed QB runs. Ya know, to play it safe we should probably just rule them out all together. Maybe we should just tell him to kneel everytime to pocket collapses? Its football. 100% injury rate. oldschool
