And the still isn't technically true. But it's still extremely rare in NFL history Lets pretend we were the only team in nfl history to get back to back first overall picks, the shame of that dubious honor is supposed to make me not want the giant haul of picks that comes with? Maybe for this season, but there isn't a universe out there that a team wouldnt want all that extra draft capital.

NE can't help who they play. Name a team in the AFC that pose a massive threat to them? AFC is so bad right now. KC is probably the only team that could go to NE and beat them. But KC probably not making the playoffs.

That's where you are very wrong. It's very relevant in the long run because they would have at least four-six 1st/2nd/3rd round picks to play with that they don't have now. I'm pretty sure New England would rather have the players that'd come from that than a win in week 18.

Right, like we have some sort of control over it. Team A should've lost this game and team B should've lost that game. It doesn't work that way. All players and coaches want to win and don't care about draft picks. Edited December 7, 2025 by scine09 Supernope, Number9, and rns90 2

Then you might as well quit watching football if you look at the game from the players prospective. Players probably don't care if they win or lose. I mean why would they? Lose and still get a $78,543 weekly check. "Players go out to win the game"? Look at how they laugh and enjoy the moments after they get beat DCTitan

The biggest problem you irrational purists have is interpretting rooting for a loss the same as wanting the team to try to lose. They are two very different things. No one wants Cam to go out there and try to throw interceptions or for Latham to do his best imitation of a saloon door. Hyperion

Yes but wouldn't you rather have the opportunity to draft a pass rusher in 26 and a 27 first rounder from another team

It has nothing to do with control over the situation. It has to do with what would be best. Idk why you guys are incapable of thinking of this in the context it is being put forth. Are more draft picks more beneficial than a single win at the end of a season you have no shot to make the playoffs in? Thats it, no ifs ands or buts. Picks or a win, chose one you rather have.
