Not many would remember this as it never eventuated but post draft the Panthers as a lot of teams do released raw war room footage that showed while they were on the clock the Rams and Panthers coming very close to agreeing a deal for the Rams to jump up to pick #8.

 

Dianna Russini among others later reported the player who McVay wanted was believed to be Tetairoa McMillan.

 

As we now know after missing out on that deal the Rams traded out of the first round and acquired the Falcons 2026 first round pick.

 

With Davante Adams turning 34 late in the 2026 season McVay is clearly targeting another high end offensive weapon.

He does seem to be a stickler on a few points. Or has a type for each position i should say.

So let me give full disclosure: He and Mauigoa were the first two 5 star recruits that bought Cristobal’s vision when this team was a shitshow. I love both those guys for being culture setters with Ward for fixing the shit. 
 

That being said, Bain is a game changer arm length be damned. Mesidor has more sack production because Bain gets double teamed more often. Our young Edge rusher’s like Lighfoot are getting sacks because of the attention Bain commands. 
 

If you watch the Louisville game, you will see a common theme with Bain. He’s held a shit ton and that’s not fan talk. OC’s openly talked all year about scheming their game plan around accounting for Bain. 
 

Plays incredibly hard against the run and is a force inside as well when he lines up there. People are going to overthink certain aspects of his game. Ultimately you know who I believe he is? Terrell Suggs. And people whiffed on his eval big time. 
 

Bain is also SPOTLESS off the field. Incredible kid.

He went quiet Mid-season (he plays an all out aggressive style so maybe fatigue related) but his last few games he has been dominant 

He was also held at an insane clip. Watch the Louisville tape and you will see.

Awesome. I loved what I watched last year and on tape. I saw his games at the start of the year where he looked like a monster. Just haven't kept up and have heard questions about projection and that his totals went down. I've been saying since the off-season he's the guy I'm targeting.

Arm length has been shown to be much more important for OT’s than edges. I don’t know why. But for edges it’s college production & combine that correlates.
