They have largely been neglected for years in favor of the offense. But despite that, they are holding their own for much of these games. They just clearly fall short when too much weight is placed on them. We can accurately judge that they simply don't have the guys. The offense, on the other hand, is completely broken. Adding more Talent to a broken system is not going to result in improvement. We're witnessing that after the additional resources in the OL and the #1 pick on the QB somehow managed to make things even worse. It's a fundamental issue. Yeah , his other option for half assing doesn’t make much sense if you think about it. Get cut after 2025 and sign a small contract OR: Play well enough to get a contender to trade for his contract and probably keep playing on that high paying deal.
