Not only is his straight line speed terrible he has no quickness, which is what playing slot is all about. Most of his highlights he's not even covered Kinda like Steve Largent. Oilers had him and they said they felt he was too slow in 1976. Goes to Seattle and goes in the HOF.
Bongo59
No one could cover Largent and he was 4.85.
Popular Post OILERMAN
I totally forgot about Rice and Largent! I'm surprised the Jags didn't trade up to the #2 pick for Restrepo BudsOilers, rns90, Justafan, and 4 others

Bongo59
There is a lesson in Largent and Rice. Speed matters until it does not. When it comes to the slot it does not matter than much. Quicks do. Rice ran a 4.6 but he hardly ever got caught from behind by faster players. Largent never was the deep ball guy but he was Welker and Edelman before the position ever made. There is a place for slow WR but they have to be elite in space and cerebral. Largent, Rice, Welker, Edelman, all had off the chain football IQ. We'll see what this cat has. I think Burks and Chig will benefit more than this guy.
BudsOilers
Largent caught a bunch of deep balls early in his career.

Bongo59
He was the next version of Blitenkoff. He also was slow and he smoked cigareetes on the bench. Another HOF
Bongo59
He was which is why Walsh took a lot of shit for moving up to draft a no name WR from a no name school. The irony was another slow WR from a no name school also made the HOF from that draft: Andre Reed. Al Toon and Eddie Brown were the headliners in that draft both of their careers were ended by injury. Eric Martin a very slow black WR was a stud for the Saints for a decade. The good news is that he’s a long snapper. Even if he ever makes the team you should virtually never hear his name (unless disaster strikes).
