I wonder if right now the US called a special referendum - we all vote today:

1) Mitt Romney becomes President remainder of term

2) Trump remains President

How would that turn out?    Only inserting Romney because he was the last Repub candidate before Trump, and is still more or less alive. being I think 1 and 5 years junior of Trump and Biden respectively.

Interesting concept to me in that it wouldn't be a primary, nor would it be a Dem vs Rep final.  Wouldn't be a campaign.  Just a single referendum voted today.  Let's also pretend 100% voting of all 18+.

How would it pan out among Dems, Independents, Reps?    Interesting exercise that I think defines a lot of American politics and how we got to be here today.  And I'm thinking as much or more about Dem/Ind than Rep and Trump specifically.

If it was just a vote by Republicans like a primary, Dear Leader would still win. Otherwise Trump would lose.

It's really hard to fathom the level of retardation that is required to vote someone in based on reacting to high (but falling) inflation, and then supporting this idiot as he goes about implementing

It isn't difficult; they are just that stupid...

Also, can we just laugh at the absurdity of Trump claiming to be some master deal-maker and then revealing that the primary tool in his tool-kit is threatening his allies with economic violence? Are w

Is this what you clowns voted for? you think American companies who have a fiduciary responsibility to the share holders are going to bring manufacturing and trade back to America when they can do it cheaper elsewhere?

Manufacturors aren't going to reshore their plants if they think the tariffs are a temporary negotiating tactic by Trump.  They need long term certainty to make that kind of investment.  And that assumes the tariffs would be a deciding factor rather than labor cost, etc.

@ctm you asked about the impact on Northern VA last month. I've seen two houses go up for sale in my neighborhood in the last 10 days and you never see more than one every few months as housing is at a premium here. I suspect we'll see many more as its near impossible to pay a mortgage here on one salary unless its $250K or more or you had cash from previous property transaction. The loss of all these government jobs doesn't just hurt the "woke left". It hurts all the government contractors and privately owned companies that support the business ecosystem in Northern VA. And its only going to get worse as families feel the squeeze.
