It's really hard to fathom the level of retardation that is required to vote someone in based on reacting to high (but falling) inflation, and then supporting this idiot as he goes about implementing

It isn't difficult; they are just that stupid...

Also, can we just laugh at the absurdity of Trump claiming to be some master deal-maker and then revealing that the primary tool in his tool-kit is threatening his allies with economic violence? Are w

Trump’s Tariffs Are Working — Here Are All The Countries Already Backing Down

I don't completely agree with Trump trying to get other countries to buy more American products.  That's not free trade and I don't think it's the president's job to micromanage the market but I can't blame him for his inability to shake the deal making part of his persona.  If you want other countries to buy American, make better products that cater to the needs of that particular country at a competitive price.

I think negotiating with countries to remove all tariffs on both sides should be the goal. Tit for tat reciprocal tariffs is fine and when the trade partner gets rid of or lowers their tariffs, we can automatically lower ours.  That's perfectly fine in my book.  But good to see that the tariffs are beginning to achieve what the administration's goal was all along.

Rich countries can buy more stuff than poor countries.  That's why we run a trade deficit.  That deficit isn't proof we are getting ripped off.

I always felt that net exporting countries like China are neo-colonies.  Instead of providing us with raw materials via slave labor, they are providing us with finish goods fairly cheaply and then reinvesting those net US dollars back into the USA (they are not loaning us anything.) Ripping us off, my ass - we are the ones ripping them off; we are getting to have or cake and eat it too.

Possibly good news, if nothing else it would give him cover to reverse some tariffs, although how much trade does that equate is the question. If it is only a little and makes him dig-in for the larger trading blocks, it will spoke our equity markets more as per surveys the market might still be pricing in a situation of him reversing all tariffs quickly as he has done previously and when that does happen, more downside will happen.

It's funny to think that when the few posters here, who aren't TDS sufferers, don't agree 100% with Trump, they are somehow beginning to turn on his policies/politics.

Let's see how it shakes out in 6 months or a year. For me it's 100% great for rehab hospital sales.

This fool thinks he’s immune to Medicare cuts

https://cleantechnica.com/2025/04/05/china-just-turned-off-u-s-supplies-of-minerals-critical-for-defense-cleantech/amp/

In April 2025, while most of the world was clutching pearls over trade war tit-for-tat tariffs, China calmly walked over to the supply chain and yanked out a handful of critical bolts. The bolts are made of dysprosium, terbium, tungsten, indium and yttrium—the elements that don’t make headlines but without which your electric car doesn’t run, your fighter jet doesn’t fly, and your solar panels go from clean energy marvels to overpriced roofing tiles. They’re minerals that show up on obscure government risk registers right before wars start or cleantech projects get quietly cancelled.

What China did wasn’t a ban, at least not in name. They called it export licensing. Sounds like something a trade lawyer might actually be excited about. But make no mistake: this was a surgical strike. They didn’t need to say no. They just needed to say “maybe later” to the right set of paperwork. These licenses give Beijing control over not just where these materials go, but how fast they go, in what quantity, and to which politically convenient customers.

The U.S.? Let’s just say Washington should get comfortable waiting behind the rope line. The licenses have to be applied for and the end use including country of final destination must be clearly spelled out. Licenses for end uses in the U.S. are unlikely to be approved.

China is strategically putting in a plan to make themselves economically superior and the world super power while the US elected a buffoon surrounded by morons

China’s GDP passed ours years ago by some measures. They are the young, rising superpower and we have doomed ourselves to falling behind permanently.
