ChesterCopperpot1
4 hours ago, Jamalisms said: They're simply not going to comply. They've already said it and they're already doing it. The courts will work so slowly that they get to accomplish much of what they want before any consequences hit and then there's a constitutional crisis on hand whether or not the judicial rulings can even be enforced. Which is exactly what you would expect with fascists but still worth noting ... we're headed down that road. JD Vance’s quoting Andrew Jackson about daring the Supreme Court to enforce its Order should concern everyone. It means that judicial orders have no meaning and the executive branch can do whatever it pleases. That means the separation powers have no meaning and we are basically electing a dictator every 4 years. IsntLifeFunny

ChesterCopperpot1
This is especially true given the supreme court’s opinion that the president can act illegally without repercussion.

Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. -Matt 6:25-34 Love you guys Jamalisms
Jamalisms
President Donald Trump has directed the Department of Justice to stop enforcing a decades-old law that prohibits American corporations from bribing foreign government officials to advance their own financial interests. As reporters watched him in the Oval Office on Monday, Trump signed the document, which directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to stop enforcing the 1934 law until she issues new enforcement guidelines. Trump complained that the anti-corruption measure, which was signed into law by then-president Jimmy Carter in 1978, was a “disaster for this country” because “it made it very, very hard, from a practical standpoint, to make deals” overseas without violating the law, implying that bribes are expected to be a routine part of business, including for American companies. https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-orders-justice-department-stop-230701006.html ChemEngr79, pamo9, Starkiller, and 1 other 1
Starkiller
https://www.nytimes.com/live/2025/02/10/nyregion/eric-adams-charges The Justice Department on Monday told federal prosecutors in Manhattan to drop corruption charges against Mayor Eric Adams of New York. It claimed his indictment last fall came too close to the 2025 Democratic mayoral primary and limited his ability to cooperate with President Trump’s immigration crackdown. The move came after Mr. Adams, a Democrat running for re-election, had made repeated overtures to Mr. Trump. Mr. Adams met with Mr. Trump near his Mar-a-Lago estate last month in an unusual display of political — and perhaps personal — outreach, then attended his inauguration and later told reporters that he would not publicly criticize the president. The request to drop the charges raises urgent questions about the administration of justice during Mr. Trump’s second term and the independence of federal prosecutors. In a memo sent to prosecutors Monday evening, the Justice Department’s acting No. 2 official, Emil Bove, accused the former Manhattan federal prosecutor who charged Mr. Adams of having done so for political reasons, though he offered no evidence.
