Titans secure picks #1 and #35 in the 2025 Draft

Recommended Posts

FWIW leading up to the Mariota pick, I had a few direct exchanges with Wyatt on Twitter.  He was stone-lipped on him being the known pick until literally right before the draft where he eventually pulled the curtains back a bit and hinted he’d likely be our pick.  It’s been a decade so the timeline’s a little fuzzy but I’m thinking it wasn’t until a week or two before the draft that he finally started nudging people in that direction.   I tried getting anything from him from like ten different angles and he wouldn’t budge lol.

Granted this was before he was officially hired by the team and still worked for the Tennessean but he was still very much the mouthpiece for the organization.  And he very likely knew Marcus was the intention well before he aired that sentiment publicly.  Could it have had something to do with us picking 2nd and not 1st and not wanting to give TB information?  Who knows.

But I do know that when Marcus was inevitably the pick, Wyatt played coy about it until it was all but common knowledge we were taking him.

And fuck ESPN and the NFLN you pricks can't go to a commercial before the #1 pick.

Let us old-school football guys take a moment appreciate to the fact that the Titans earned the #1 overall pick the old-fashioned way.   Not by tanking or by trading up, but by simply being

I'd hate Hunter. The Titans best position is likely CB and you don't take a WR that high. If the Titans traded down to 3 and Carter went 2 I'd rather trade down again and maybe go for someone like Mem

Well if that’s the case I hope they don’t settle for a player they are merely comfortable with.

But even the Titans state media doesn’t really know everything. They totally shit on Will Levis on their day one draft recap podcast and then the team drafted him the next day 😂

Lol I totally forgot about that

It's 27.5M this year I believe, but yeah I rather doubt it. But it can't be totally dismissed out of hand. Wyatt clearly wants people to specifically keep an eye out for Cousins. His motive for continuing to put that out there, I'm not certain - could be carrying water for the team Brass, or could really have a feeling that's a possibility and doesn't want fans to be all in on Cam Ward. Hard to say.

The roster bonus is already paid as of now though, and Cousins will have to waive his no trade clause and restructure his deal to facilitate any trade.

What if it’s actually about Jake Browning? 👀

I found his statements about the Titans possibly trading the pick interesting.

I wonder if the team is using Wyatt and PK to make the Giants up their potential offer.

Between Wyatt/PK and Daniel Jeremiah's continued uncertainty, it has me at least doing a double take.

Also considered that angle previously, but for this particular segment it was very clearly related to Cousins.

He actually said Cousins by name? I don’t think he was specific on the OTP from this past weekend

Yeah, he was coy about how it got there though because of tampering rules etc., but they specifically mentioned Cousins by name - don't remember if Wyatt himself did explicitly or if he lead them into it first. It was super clear this time though - last time it came up I was between whether he was alluding to Cousins vs Browning.

Who knows what Wyatt's motives are but some people here were laughing at him when a couple of months ago he put Latham being shifted to RT on the radar which he ended up being 100% correct about.

Also just on Latham during his 3HL appearance today Wyatt said that Latham was never drafted exclusively to be a LT he was just the best option for the position in 2024.

Latham getting moved over was def in the cards though even before they did it

More evidence showing Tuten as the #2 best RB behind JeantyGmXFfknXQAAqh2T.jpeg.5928f9267709136a0768fac1a84475e3.jpeg

I think the team takes a RB this year. Class too stacked not to. I see ten legit options on that board. Maybe best RB class in a decade plus

Yeah I agree. I really like him on paper, he’s going to get a great chance here to succeed.

That said, if he doesn’t draft the right guy this year or makes the wrong move draft wise, this ship can go sideways quick. There’s a lot of pressure being number one in the draft. I know most liked getting the top pick but truthfully, it’s cursed lol. You have immense pressure to pick the best player, or trade the pick.

If you trade the pick & someone great gets drafted where you were, you’re on a hot seat. If you draft the wrong guy at #1, also hotseat. It’s a lose lose scenario being #1 in the draft. You either hit big or you are considered a failure.

I’m sure the giants are saying ‘whew, glad we get to pick 3rd. The Titans have all the pressure!’

Wyatt is out there setting that up with his authorized coach speak. The only QB I can think of is Cousins. Idk how tf you rebuild paying a QB that kinda cash

And trading picks for him.

History shows they should feel just like that. The only two number one picks to be true superstars in the past ten drafts are Garrett and Burrows. Pressure is on Tennessee more than anyone.
