Cam is definitely making some plays harder by refusing to run, but I'm OK with it. It's not like he didn't run in college -- it feels like a conscious decision to stay in the pocket and develop his passing.

The game will slow down, the WRs and Cam will become more confident and consistent on the routes, and when that happens he will be much more decisive. Taking off when the play is dead and hitting the check down will come. Hanging in the pocket and keeping eyes downfield is harder.

How Cam orders his eggs: fried.

How cam needs to order his eggs: scrambled.

I'm totally fine with the Titans drafting Ward. Enough people think he can be good and he's shown enough NFL traits. It would not be like the Titans overdrafting Anthony Richardson or Trey Lance.

Watching this past weeks games one thing is clear, Ward has got to start using his legs more. So many of the young inconsistent QBs extend drives and make plays running for 1st downs. Ward almost refuses to and it's basically a free cheat code.

i don't think it's just the young QBs...it's become a big part of the position in general.

This staff and team seems to have killed his confidence a little. The very first game of the season he was very decisive and gave us opportunities to succeed against a solid playoff team while running a full offense and making audibles and line calls.  There's some things happening now that shows he doesnt trust his eyes as much anymore.

In times of stress, we all fall back to things that worked before even in the face of evidence that it no longer works as well as before. Add in that Cam is smart enough to know this staff is a bunch of retards not sticking with up-to-date NFL trends, the poor start to the season for the OL based on the DL's we faced,  and lack of quality receivers - and you have the recipe for where we are now.

I do think Cam is learning from this staff but it's likely more selective rather than full open book - and i dont think that's necessarily a bad thing. But it is delaying the growth some.

He needs to learn to take the checkdowns much earlier and set his feet better. That's about it for the next year  and he could 3x his production. The adjustment to rush speed will come.

This is just my opinion & Im certainly not an expert & I don’t watch much tape at all but I really think the youth at WR is making things really, really difficult on him. Without Ridley his primary 2 targets are 4th rd rookies. And that’s nothing against them at all. I like them both. Dike is actually one of my 3-4 favorite guys on the team & I love his burst & twitch. But right now if we’re being honest the 2 rookies along with Van Jefferson is one of the worst trios in probably the last couple years at least. Ward & the team desperately need a healthy Ridley back in the worst way. He’s not a star but he’s a legit 1B/2A type who separates downfield & is capable of huge games. Right now I just think nobody is getting open & Ward just keeps waiting for somebody to separate & then gets himself into trouble.

Cam also needs to play better. He’s far from blameless. Even within this terrible situation he has played awful at times.

Once again this is just how I see it but I think the  pass catchers are a much bigger problem than the staff & OL. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think these guys are doing Cam any favors oñ the X’s & O’s front. Some of it has been brutal & I’m definitely looking forward to getting a proven & creative play caller in the building.

One thing I’ll leave off with cause this isn’t the HC thread but I saw some analytics oñ how play callers are performing on scripted plays which is where the OC has the most impact & Arthur Smith is crushing it this year. He’s been by far the best. And that’s with a totally washed Aaron Rodgers.

I want Cam doing exactly what he's doing. I don't want him running for 8-9 season in his first year. It's unnecessary risk. He needs to get better at throwing the ball.

He needs to start throwing it away instead of scrambling. If he can run for a little 1st down slide...fine. But he shouldn't be used as a ground weapon YET

I complely agree on the WRs and even the 2nd TE. These guys dont know how to get open yet, And the Vets are either injured or not that great or also have little actual experience. The young guys arent savvy vets, they are seeing this stuff for the first times during games. They are likely focused on just running the correct routes as called and not able to play loose or adjust to coverages yet, hey dont know to notcie the blitzes and look back sooner, etc.

Still though, Cam needs to be getting the ball out quicker and taking some yards with his legs. Thats about all he can do this season and can focus on fundamentals much more in the off-season.

Cam's a gamer.  If he sneaks out and has to put his head down, he's going to do it.  HIGH INJURY RISK. Look at Cam.  He's a passer.  Dart is out with a concussion and has had two other concussions this season.  Titans had a bunch of short goal line attempts and they didn't even ask Cam to run one time.  Why?

I actually wonder if Cally discouraged Cam from running to protect him. So many times in preseason he didn't run, then I feel like in the end he started doing it

I admit it is perplexing, but he wasn't acquired to play that way.  Cam's thinly built and I never see much muscle.  Looking at his college stats, he's didn't do a lot of running.  I think it's wiser to let his game develop generically.  Hit his targets, that's the thing that's not happening.

Thinly built? He’s not muscular but definitely not thinly built. Look at how Maye is built.

This is going to be a rough ride.  I think a lot of things need to get a lot better.  Drops.  Poor play designs.  Leaking OL.  No HC.  Cam running occasionally just isn't the solution, imo.

What if we just rolled with no coaches. Has anyone tried that since the 1930s?
