titansfan
Did not expect to be starting this thread again so soon (I by that i mean both this season and the overall state of this organization). In House Candidates Will Levis - Has disappointed and regressed. The flaws that caused questions about him in college have been even more highlighted. He has trouble reading the field and must play in a free flowing non restricting offense to best bring out his skillset. Undisciplined and makes panic plays-- I'm surprised Callahan believe he was a QB he could use in his system. Mason Rudolph - A decent backup at best. There is nothing spectacular about him and if things aren't perfect around him he can't bring up the play of receivers. He's good for not making a ton of mistakes but if begins throwing into he's no good for a team. Around the League David Carr- Carr's marriage with New Orleans is ending as the Saints seem finally ready to accept a rebuild. The team started out on fire but quickly came back to earth as Carr fell back to his career mean, and his lack of ability to to consistently produce big plays put a struggling Saints team in a disadvantaged position. I think Carr would be a good option here. He seems to be a good fit for Callahan's offense and can contribute to wins, but he's a 2 year option at most. Kirk Cousins- A new option due to his inevitable split with Atlanta which was earmarked to be disastrous the moment he relayed displeasure in their pick of Michael Penix at #8 (in hindsight maybe we should have considered Penix). Cousins at this point is more of just a known name than a legitimate option to fuel more wins for Tennessee. He's old and obviously regressed and not at the level prior to his achilles injury. He's not mobile at all and despite a clear top level football mind he does not have the physical gifts to overcome the progressing deficiencies he has. Aaron Rodgers- Another "Name" option. Rodgers' numbers are not bad and his struggles can also somewhat be attributed to the Jets organization. Rodgers however clearly has lost his mobility which was a big part of what made him special. Additionally, I'm not sure if the pairing of him with the organization is the right fit unless Rodgers just absolutely needs to play football. I doubt he'd be fully motivated playing here. He'd likely retire than come here and be apart of a rebuild. Teddy Bridgewater- Another interesting option is Bridgewater who has said he is ready to return. His name is exactly what he'd be a bridge over troubled waters. He wouldn't be a real option as a prolonged QB for this team but he's a safe and smart player who can keep the ship afloat until the team drafts it's next guy, and even then after he'd be a real option to serve as backup and uniformed QB coach. Justin Fields - Probably the 3rd best dual threat in the league after Lamar and Jayden. Struggles still with quickly processing the field so he misses throws because of closing windows. Still young and plays hard. Players love him, but is he capped as a passer? Jake Browning - 28 years old with not a ton of upside but a safe player who plays within himself and the system. Understands his limitations and reads the field well. Probably a place holder more than an answer for longterm starter. Hendon Hooker - In his second year but already 26. He was considered as a QB to take if you need a rookie to play early but the Lions seem set on Goff as their guy for the foreseeable future. So with two years remaining on Hooker's contract I don't see much value in letting the former day 2 pick just sit especially if the Lions can recoup something for him. He's got a lot of Geno Smith in his game and is a Tennessee legend. Sam Darnold- Obviously a free agent candidate following this season. Strong arm, plays with confidence, but prone to dumb decisions and inconsistent play. He's playing at a high level but his play only rises when the situation around him is very good. Will also demand a pretty big contract so the team will need to convinced he's the guy if they make that investment. I'm not. Daniel Jones - Released by the Giants due to inconsistent play lowlighted by poor accuracy and slow processing of the field. He does exhibit a good arm, good size, top tier athleticism. Probably needs a simplified system to unlock his best version. Currentlu with the Vikings, but a change of scenery may be good for him. Young enough that he's worth the flyer. Jameis Winston- A fun stop gap option, but a legitimate NFL QB. A strike out and homerun hitter, and he's shown no signs of moving away from that label. Can you trust for a season? Ehh Draft Shadeur Sanders - Great intermediate accuracy and a very smart QB but lacks elite traits including below average athleticism and an average arm. Also causes a lot of his own sacks. Also needs to mature in terms of taking accountability when things aren't going well. Cam Ward - Tough evaluation. He was an exciting and intriguing prospect last year. He's brought excitement and a culture change to Miami, but he plays a reckless brand of football. Garrett Nussmeier- He's got a lot of fans on this site. Makes a ton of big time throws and plays with a lot of confidence, but makes some bad panic decisions and probably needs more experience. I think he can be a Baker Mayfield type player in both style of play and skill level. Jalen Milroe - Hes got upside and will be a tools selection. Must string together consistent reliable play. Will look all world one week then like a brand new freshman the next. 2026 Draft Arch Manning Nico Iamaleava Marcel Reed 2027 DJ Lagway Jackson Arnold Edited December 21, 2024 by titansfan
titansfan
I do think Bryce Young would look better in Callhan's offense. Him, Hooker, Browning, and Sanders would all be good fits.

OzTitan
Browning isn't a FA, and you'd probably have to overpay to get him off Cinci
Justafan
No great or "no brainer" options imo. Unless you get a shot at Darnold, FA is bleh at best. Sanders seems like he could be a good fit for this offense but has some flaws that are red flags to me. His 25% pressure to sack rate is a real problem in terms of evaluation imo. Ward is just as big of a risk and the prospects go down from there.

titansfan
The real question is will this organization have enough faith in Callahan to completely go all in the QB that fits his offense the best. Or do we just take the best QB who exhibits traits that the entire organizations deems important and force Cally to adapt if it's not a perfect fit
IowaOiler
If we are drafting top 3-5 this year, which we likely will be, there are too many good/great prospects to waste it on one of the questionable top QBs. I'm not big on any of them, whether it's Ward, Sanders, or Milroe. Travis Hunter would be the player I would covet, while also looking at the top OT and DT prospects. Draft a QB in the later rounds, as I think there are players that might surprise. Obviously I watch much more BigTen football than other conferences, but I've been impressed by Allar, Howard, and even Will Rogers. Allar and Howard are surrounded by studs, so it makes evaluating them more difficult, but Rogers has done a good job despite having a young team and playing a rough schedule. He'd likely be available in the later rounds as well so not a major investment. Righteous, Callidus, and oldschool 1 1
Nash
I've been wondering why bother with Levis, but after reading this, the prospects of another qb aren't particularly great.. even after a bad game against A and M, I'm starting to come back around to Nussmeier, who seems to understand the concepts of an offense pretty well.. were Titan scouts at that game?? .. tgo
I think Shedeur Sanders is the best offensive scheme fit, and I feel like the org is now equipped to deal with Deion’s intrusion with Carthon at the helm and Cally being a guy who really incorporates tons of feedback from his QB and fosters that relationship. titanskick8851
