Only Henry seems to consistently get this perfect blocking for 6 years... its incredible

I didn't think you were insulting me but thanks for clarifying anyways. Respectfully, I'm not in group 2 either because I think Henry is elite, not simply good to great. Good to great is selling him s

You were in the group that talked shit about him for years until the Jags game that he went crazy in. You gave Henry some credit for a few years but it took him playing at a historic level to get your

Now this I fully agree with. Watched the game last night with my cousins and said the exact same thing about Henry's usage.  The game flow left him on the sidelines for most of the first half. The fact once he got involved he was absolutely dominant just shows what kind of weapon he is. You don't just run the offense through him for the sake of it. You run an NFL offense that features him as a weapon some games and uses him as a cudgel in others.

When did we ever have the luxury of "just" using him as a weapon? Some of what was lost in the Henry era is the reality of our situation, and some of you are almost there.

yup. I said this years ago. The Titans were at their best when they passed to get ahead and then let Henry close games out.

Definitely but it really boiled down to the 1st down run/pass ratio.  They were always really good at first down passing (success rate, YPA, EPA) and average to below average in first down running.  Against good defenses, they'd get shut down and then expose the bottom tier pass blocking unit.

I definitely thought Henry was on the downside of his career but he looks like the 2019/2020 version with Baltimore.  I agree he's lost some weight and regained some burst but it's also undeniable that he's playing with a great QB and an OL playing at a top level.  Things he also had in 2019/2020 when he was putting up similar production.  Henry's special skill has always been making explosive runs at an insane rate but I'll still contend that he requires a higher level of blocking at the line of scrimmage than other great backs in history.

One thing that Baltimore has shattered though is this belief that Henry needs to get a ton of carries to "wear down the defense" and make it pop.  I heard Quiver Chins and Vrabel talk about this and we definitely saw this in their game planning/play calling that became way too predictable and unsuccessful over time.

One mistake the retards made over and over was that pointing out that the run heavy 1st down stuff hurt the offense and winning was that it always was more about Vrabel and the OC literally putting the offense in their most vulnerable spots  - obvious passing situations where they couldn't pass block - moreso than hating on Henry.   For fucks sake, this mindset was a huge reason why they only won 2 playoff games in that window.

Running on first down in 2019/2020 wasn't an issue at all because analytically they were getting in short yardage on 3rd downs while also being able to generate a ton of explosive both in the passing game and running game.

A crazy stat I saw recently. In 2020 when they were 6th in 3rd down conversion %, they had a 46% success rate, 6th in the league. They averaged 5.6 yards on those 3rd downs. They averaged 5.4 yards passing on 3rd downs while being 6th in success rate in passing. They averaged more in rushing attemps while being 10th in success rate at 6.1 yards! They were constantly in short down and distance when it was going well

The issue was not pivoting from this when it began to be a hinderance in 2021 and especially not being able to pivot mid-game or mid-season and it costing us the playoffs. The hard-headedness got in the way of what could've been a special team

I love Derrick but it makes me sick watching him play for them. He is absolutely a generational talent. It makes me angry that the Titans couldn't  develop a team that would have made him a Titan for his entire career. It's so depressing.

Hopefully Detroit, KC or some other team can prevent them from winning it all.

Literally me shutting the TV off after seeing a big Henry run in a ravens uniform.

In 2020 against GOOD teams, this did not work well.  That was where it shifted and why they were one and done vs the Ravens.

I'll add that in the splits I saw (PFR), 48.7% of the 3rd downs were 3rd & long (3rd & 7+).  20% were 3rd and short (1-3 yards to go).  Hence 80% of 3rd downs were typical passing situations.

Mind you that passing wise on early downs, Tannehill had a 106.9 passer rating and 8.9 YPA on 1st down and a 117 passer rating and 8.5 YPA on 2nd down.....

@oldschool desperate attempts to save face and kiss the asses of people he insulted is so cringe. .

"No no it's not you! I actually like you! I just .. My insults just came because.... I just bashed Henry relentlessly because...because you agreed with my bottom 5 - the bottom 5!!! Don't you get it?!?! The bottom 5!!!"

Nice artistic licensing play here. Henry absolutely dropped off in 2021 and 2022. Part of if was the OL, part of it was him.

I guess you got it kinda wrong again.  In 2021, Henry was being touted as NFL MVP.

He was sidelined with a broke foot.  He even played on it.  But you are right, his production fell while he was on IR.

That's also the year I praised the hell out of Tannehill for standing in there taking a beating, while leading the team to 12-5.

I'm just pointing out how TR became this weird hot-bed of Henry hate that everyone now wants to pretend never existed because he's going all the way off in Baltimore. My hope is that we don't allow group-think like that to grip us again. This board is better than that.

Sadly, they won't.  A few will try to slink away in the dark.  i.e. they will quit saying stupid shit  just because someone has been giving them candy(likes).  But some of them want that candy so bad, they'll say anything to get some.
