How long is Levis' leash?

It's gone on one game too long already!

Callahan already knows.  Just look at all this from a chronological pov.  Ball goes into the lake in minicamps. We laughed but that was a bad sign.  The TC reports where he looked OK at best and was awful most of the time .  The misses to Ridley comments from Callahan.  The bad Seattle scriminages.

And now this , he had to dumb down limit the offense so where Levis couldn’t fuck it up and then remind him not to turn the ball over.

If that doesn’t scream I’m trying my best to win with a liability at qb (Fisher /VY come to mind), I don’t know what does.

When you listen to the entire Callahan presser from today the real scary thing is he emphasized that he simplified (dumbed down) the game plan due to having a young QB and OL in the hope of reducing o

If Levis keeps ignoring Callahan's instructions the leash might be shorter than most expected.

Levis needs to settle down in general.  He's too amped up play to play.  I'm not sure how they fix that.  Levis even talked about that in one of his interviews.  The weird thing is with Levis is he seems to know where the issues lie.  He says all the right things.  And then he goes on the field and does exactly as he says he won't do.  I believe he once said he's never slid in a game.  Maybe that was as a pro or maybe it was in his entire football life.

That’s why being 25 is key . Those habits are ingrained in him and not likely to change.

Possible that he's retarded.  When you think back, the high pick QBs we've drafted have all been dummies.  VY would do shit like throw a pick and run down and hurt himself making the tackle.  Locker was a complete retard, not sliding and trying to run over people.  Mariota when he felt the heat would try to run through people at the endzone in preseason.  Now Levis seems to be the worse of the bunch...

Levis is definitely not dumb.

That's why I really think unless he gives them no choice he needs to be given the year.  He definitely has talent.  But he's raw.  I'll admit, though, I was surprised at how uninspiring his overall performance was the other day, even taking away the turnovers.  There just wasn't a lot there.  I felt like the playcalling was vanilla, trying not to put too much on his plate and it was just lackluster overall.

I agree that you do have to give him some more time but not the entire year .  If he doesn’t show progress and put together a string of decent performances in a row, you have to bench at some point .

If he's as bad again as he was last week he deserves nothing.

If the performance are like the other day?  Obviously he can't keep that up the whole year.  I think unfortunately fans need to be patient.  No, fans shouldn't put up with what we saw Sunday.  That was unacceptable.  He's also going into his 5th system in five years and, while he's on year two, is still pretty much a rookie.  He has some tools that you want.  But he needs to show at least some improvement to give the team a reason to keep playing him.  More performances like that will get him benched.

We already have some data on him from last year .  I think it would be easier to defend if it were his first start.  But it’s not.

And for better or worse these young qbs come in and you can tell pretty quickly if he’s the guy or not.  And that’s why the CHI game was so damaging.  He looked like the same guy, even worse and I’m not sure there was any improvement at all.

And yeah , some of this is my Deja vu talking and me getting the “I’ve seen this before sadly and know how it ends “.

I don't know scine.  Two staffs try to beat it into your brain not to make stupid throws or put your body into harms way and the guy actually does it more?  He's either self destructive or an idiot...

Levi is 3-7 as a starter and he is anointed as future starter.  He is another Mitch Trubisky who has not developed his anticipation and reading defense skill. They can win matches with their running ability at college level, and the first instinct is to bail which doesnt work in the nfl.  He will never be consistently accurate as he is moving and throwing to a moving target.  There are too many variables to adjust for and there is a reason why running QB's have very few or no SB to show for (Mahomes is an accurate passer first and only runs to throw).  Rudolph is 8-4-1 as a starter against much stiffer competition than what Levi has faced.  I say give Levi 3 more games and if he still doesn't perform, give the reigns to Rudolph before the defense loses focus and gives up because they have a sucky qb.

Last year he struggled at times and was good at times....like a typical rookie.  But yeah Sunday he just showed nothing.  I can't even try to defend him if I wanted to.  Even the TD pass I thought was an unnecessary risk and not a good throw.  And he had one to Boyd in the 2nd half which was behind him where a good throw may have meant extra yards.  I really want the guy to succeed.  I think players like playing for him.  He has certain tools (quick release, big arm) that you can't teach.  He's a likeable guy and very well spoken.  But more games like that and it's fair game for the coaches IMO.

It's his nature.  It doesn't make him dumb.
