I think I better stick to Ukraine haha.

But I will make sure to report and call out any and all disinformation posted in this thread by others.

This situation is a lot different than Ukraine because of the heavy biases implicit from all factions from the inside out. Maybe no updates until confirmed by major news organizations instead of tweets.

Hell yeah! John Calvin & friends never burned "heretics" at the stake. Protestants never burned "witches". All the bad stuff was the Catholics fault! That's the ticket!

There's simply no defense for what has taken place. This wasn't a military encounter; this was terrorism plain and simple. There's a huge difference. It's unjustifiable and has setback peace for decad

The 6 billion was Iranian money from prior oil sales and held in South Korea.   In addition, it wasn't turned over directly to Iran.  The money is to be used for humanitarian purposes and pa

Yep. The mainstream media outlets are no less susceptible to biased reporting and inaccuracies. Even without intent to publish misinformation the desire to get information out in real time inherently leads to that.

If anyone is interested, the most recent episode of the Al Franken Podcast is about this conflict. Boiling it down the guest expert basically lays out how this is largely an intractable problem (Israel/Palestine) and how messy a ground war in Gaza likely is going to be.

On the upside he also said that that Hezbollah (the much bigger military threat compared to Hamas) and Iran are unlikely to get involved in a bigger conflict because of the US presence as well as the rest of the world considering it a threat to global stability.

Hezbollah doesn't really have a military per se. They're part of the Lebanese government and neither Lebanon or Iran want to get directly involved b/c it would mean bringing in the US and they don't want that.

Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shia Islamist political party and militant group,[1][2] has an exceptionally strong military wing, thought to be stronger than the Lebanese Army,[3][4] and equivalent to the armed strength of a medium-sized army.[5][a] A hybrid force, the group maintains "robust conventional and unconventional military capabilities",[7] and is generally considered the most powerful non-state actor in the world.[8][9][b][7][11]

Estimates vary widely, but as of October 2021, Hezbollah's leader Hassan Nasrallah claimed his organization has 100,000 trained fighters;[12] while in 2017, Jane's assessed Hezbollah's strength at more than 25,000 full-time fighters and approximately 20,000–30,000 reservists.

Estimates of Hezbollah's total rocket count range from 40,000[19] to 150,000,[20] which is considerably more than most countries.

Sources generally agree that Hezbollah's strength in conventional warfare compares favorably to state militaries in the Arab world.[25][e] A 2009 review concluded that Hezbollah was "a well-trained, well-armed, highly motivated, and highly evolved war-fighting machine"[f] and "the only Arab or Muslim entity to successfully face the Israelis in combat."[18]

I think you & @TF_Titan encapsulated it pretty well. Hold people to some standards, but the 20-30 people regularly in this forum aren't the typical people that need to have everything buttoned up. This little corner of the internet isn't driving misinformation.

I'll speak up if I see a 10 year old holding a lit cherry bomb for attention, but if a 25 year old blows his hands off doing the same thing I'm not going to lose sleep for not warning him of the dangers.

Think there's more self piety going on here moreso than some actual moral discussion that some are trying to frame it as.

I agree.

If you can't even make that discernment on a Titans message board, you're far better off steering clear of every source of data that in the world isn't packaged up with a bow on it from sources you only trust.

Glad we're on the same page and good on you for knowing your limitations.
