There are significant differences in context, imo, fundamentally being Ukraine is a nation state and their Slavic heritage is shared with Russians, not the "blame the jew" boogeyman to feed to an angry country's bloodlust.  That said, the term was "functional difference" and what the Russians appear to be doing to the Ukrainians... well,.. it's not indiscriminate, fill a trench pass the rifles ethnic killings, but it's way too damn close to Hitler than most were expecting.

What's motivating them is different, but what they're willing to do to achieve their ambitions is the same. The similarities in their psyches are actually eerie.

It's depressingly scary just how easy it is to convince groups of people to hate each other, and I can only imagine what a war and losing loved ones would do to the brain.  However, I thought their common heritage would buffer against the worst displays of hatred.  What's weird, was in the one vid where the survivor tells the story of how the Russian troops frequently asked "where are the Nazis? where are the Nazis?!" when in fact THEY were the ones carrying out Nazi-like activities before retreating from the town..

How was Nazi Germany finally defeated again?

They opened a 2 front war, and failed to capture Moscow in the winter of 1941 after Hitler diverted his armies to the south to Ukraine.  Once Russia was able to reinforce Moscow and begin their epic counter attack and fully scale up their military mobilization, it was only a matter of time.

It was all about Ukraine. Hitler wanted its resources to help support the war and then eventually settle Germans there after the war. He foolishly opened the 2nd front and paid the price for it.

Risk of Nuclear War Is Rising

October 5, 2022 at 10:00 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 33 Comments

Eurointelligence: “Our own assessment is that the likelihood of a nuclear war rises in proportion to the likelihood of a Russian defeat. We are no military experts, but we are trained in logical inference. If we consider the likelihood of a Russian defeat in Ukraine as high, as so many experts now seem to believe, than surely, the likelihood of a nuclear attack cannot be simultaneously low. If we agree with Garry Kasparov that Putin will not personally survive a defeat, then why should he refrain from using nuclear weapons?

This is where I'm at and personally I think it's becoming more and more likely by the day. It might just depend on how big he goes with it.

I think he'll push DPRK and China to do something with SK/Japan and Taiwan first though so as to try and spread the US thin in their support around the world. i'm not saying he'll be successful but I think he'll try.

He's already supposedly pushing the Saudis to make moves in regards to the oil market.

Saudi Arabia Moves to Raise Oil Prices

October 5, 2022 at 8:47 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 73 Comments

“Saudi Arabia is seeking to raise oil prices at a crucial meeting in Vienna, in a move set to anger the US and aid Russia,” the Financial Times reports.

“Riyadh, Moscow and other producers are poised to announce deep cuts at a meeting of the Opec+ cartel on Wednesday.”

New York Times: “An output cut by Saudi Arabia and its allies would reinforce the growing perception that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia and President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia are working closely together to manage oil markets.”

It's probably close to time to cut such close ties with Saudi Arabia, although the whole dynamic is very nuanced.

We shouldn't be supplying so much weaponry to a human rights abusing anti-American dictatorship in Riyadh.
