Jon Stewart succinctly summed up the most glaring issue with CNN’s Wednesday night town hall interview with former President Donald Trump, and explained why those who are pushing back on the discourse are missing the point.

“Dear TV,” Stewart wrote on Twitter Saturday morning. “The problem w the Trump Town Hall wasn’t platforming…or a fragile siloed audience unable to be exposed to newsworthy opinions antithetical to their own…the problem was an event that was clearly negotiated to Trump’s approval. An ode to access.”

Stewart wrote from the perspective of CNN as they attempted to get back in Trump’s good graces, acting as a perverted Oliver Twist begging for ratings.

“We promise good sir…we are no longer Fake News!!!” the comedian tweeted. “An enemy of the people!!! Let us prove it to you!!! We are fair and good and will do this however you would like…just come back…”

I learned nothing from this town hall about Trump and his most ardent supporters I haven't known since 2016. I learned a lot about CNN.

I truly wish that man would run for president. I watched him somehow get an interview with Newsmax where he completely eviscerated the host, but he did so with such genuine kindness, almost a pleading hope the person would get it, that the host had to chuckle in a knowing manner. We need so much more of that type of humanism in our discourse. We are not all enemies.

MediasTouch has talked about these guys. They'll also write articles and such like they're lawyers and then other right wing orgs will pick it up and quote them like they're legal experts when in reality it's just the Trump team putting out lies and talking points. And then Fox will take it and run w/ it saying "experts agree" or "experts say", etc. It's part of how the right wing propaganda machine works when in reality it's just talking points, spin and out right lies.

BTW, Steven Miller is not a lawyer

However, Miller is eminently qualified to feed people full of shit and tell them what they want to hear while taking their money hand over fist.

He’s basically PT Barnum masquerading as legal counsel…..and for some folks, that’s exactly what they want.

He does more than tell people what they want to hear though. He actively initiates the spread of disinformation.

For all the hyperbolic “Dems are evil” bullshit parroted by the right, I’ve never seen where essentially their entire family has spoken out against individuals like Miller and Paul Gosar. These are truly bad people who actively foment hatred and act on policies antithetical to what the USA is all about. Credit to their families for ostracizing them, even if their party leadership won’t.
