Starkiller
https://www.axios.com/2023/03/30/affordable-care-act-preventative-service-mandate-struck-down A federal judge in Texas ruled Thursday that employers can't be required to cover specified preventive health care services under the Affordable Care Act. Why it matters: The ruling has major implications for the more than 150 million Americans on employer-sponsored health plans and could put millions on the hook financially for certain skin and lung cancer screenings, statins for heart disease, medications that prevent HIV and other services recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. The Biden administration is expected to appeal the decision and ask for a stay. Context: The ruling stemmed from a case brought by six individuals and two Christian-owned businesses who argued that they should not be mandated to offer coverage of HIV PrEP because they did not want to encourage "homosexual behavior." It truly never ends with these fucks. The most homosexual and child predatory behavior happens in their churches and businesses. This is an undisputed and documented fact. It's more than money. It's about holding some strange narrative of being right or correct about how society should operate. Imagine these people whom run a wealthy business stopping and seeing the irony of wanting to cut people's benefits to Healthcare. Some of them see it for profit motive, but I honestly believe the vast majority don't see it at all.

IsntLifeFunny
Republicans are literally psychopathic. From Kansas: The legislation requires children to participate in school activities based on the gender they were assigned at birth, from elementary school to college. Challenges could require them to undergo genital inspections, or require a birth certificate for proof of the child’s gender.

Republicans demonize trans people (along with other minorities) just like Nazis demonized the Jews. It’s easier to control people if you give them a common enemy. titanruss

Starkiller
https://www.propublica.org/article/clarence-thomas-scotus-undisclosed-luxury-travel-gifts-crow For more than two decades, Thomas has accepted luxury trips virtually every year from the Dallas businessman without disclosing them, documents and interviews show. A public servant who has a salary of $285,000, he has vacationed on Crow’s superyacht around the globe. He flies on Crow’s Bombardier Global 5000 jet. He has gone with Crow to the Bohemian Grove, the exclusive California all-male retreat, and to Crow’s sprawling ranch in East Texas. And Thomas typically spends about a week every summer at Crow’s private resort in the Adirondacks. The extent and frequency of Crow’s apparent gifts to Thomas have no known precedent in the modern history of the U.S. Supreme Court. These trips appeared nowhere on Thomas’ financial disclosures. His failure to report the flights appears to violate a law passed after Watergate that requires justices, judges, members of Congress and federal officials to disclose most gifts, two ethics law experts said. He also should have disclosed his trips on the yacht, these experts said. Crow met Thomas after he became a justice. The pair have become genuine friends, according to people who know both men. Over the years, some details of Crow’s relationship with the Thomases have emerged. In 2011, The New York Times reported on Crow’s generosity toward the justice. That same year, Politico revealed that Crow had given half a million dollars to a Tea Party group founded by Ginni Thomas, which also paid her a $120,000 salary. But the full scale of Crow’s benefactions has never been revealed. Edited April 6, 2023 by Starkiller IsntLifeFunny

There should be clear disclosure rules, monetary thresholds, etc written into law (beyond vague ethics reviews), that allow monitoring and criminal exposure, if needed. Both Parties for sure on this one. For the judiciary in particular, it's inexcusable. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/26/us/politics/robert-menendez-admonished.html
begooode
Clarence Thomas may warrant his own thread soon Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), the top lawmaker on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said the panel would act on allegations that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas accepted lavish gifts from a billionaire Republican donor over a period of decades. For years, Thomas took luxury trips and outings on yachts and private jets owned by Dallas businessman Harlan Crow, according to an investigation by ProPublica. But Thomas did not disclose the travel, the investigation found. Crow has donated lavishly to Republican candidates. Durbin said in a statement that the report was a “call to action” for lawmakers, arguing Supreme Court justices needed a code of ethics that could be enforced. Starkiller
If this had come out last year, I wonder if Dems would have moved to impeach Thomas knowing they would never get the necessary votes in the Senate to convict

The only demonization that I see is any non leftist who speaks their mind and are immediately attacked for having views not consistent with leftist dogma. It takes place everywhere and is the modus operandi for censorship and dictatorship. And for you to deny what takes place on a daily basis whether at Stanford Law, NY Times, or any place where conservatives voice their opinion is true willful ignorance. Have you seen the GOP standard bearer at his podium lately..... LOFL Yes, there needs to be more CIVIL discourse without people shutting each other down. Disinformation or patently hostile speech should be called out. Additionally when things do get off track , the pivot to victimhood from the right needs to calm the fuck down from all the pearl clutching as well.
