Do you just want to live in a cult or something because I have no idea what kinda structure you want for the country.

The happiest countries on earth are all democratic socialist countries.

You're literally complaining about issues caused by capitalism and then blaming the president for issues that are inherently due to our economic system. You're clueless.

These are all still countries that are very much capitalist countries.

I think we should stop trying to force that term when it's not even necessarily that accurate. Getting into a sematic debate about what "democratic socialism" is, is counterproductive.

Thus the distinction between “socialism” and “democratic socialism”.

New Zealand and Sweden and whatever country where people are happy isn’t being run like Cuba or Venezuela. No one here is in favor of countries generally described as socialism. But democratic socialist countries are a very different story.

It didnt use to be this way. There was a time when petty shit didnt bother people.

Disagree.     People aren't happy unless they're unhappy....they always have to have something to be pissed off about.       And in the absence of a huge existential crises, they'll find some minor petty shit and act like it's a big deal.

The funny part of this argument is he apparently achieved this by not being engaged with congress or involved in the negotiations.

He’s been involved heavily in certain negotiations - like he was working daily with Chris Murphy on the gun bill for instance

Dude will literally complain about anything. His dream girl could show up to his house naked ready to go and he'd find something to bitch about. Eeyore gonna eeyore.

 Oh Lighten up.

Nothing I said is a complaint. I think it’s interesting that the secret really is for the president to back away.

It’s an extension of the old “secret congress” in my opinion. The president, no matter who it is, brings tons of attention and polarization to bills which actually decreases the odds something passes.

Yeah that’s kind of an advantage of the “passive” executive style vs the “bully” executive style. Each style has their place and use, but sometimes behind the scenes or hands-off negotiating latitude gets more accomplished in the end.

I actually think with a more aggressive/polarizing president - Manchin could have been forced out of the party or decided to leave since he was right on the edge- (see what happened with W Bush and the 50/50 Congress). And of course that would be very bad for getting bills up for Senate votes and for judicial nominations which the admin has been stacking up at a historic clip. The whole dynamic right now is a tight rope balancing act in DC.
