  1. A friend of a friend's doctor's wife said the injury to his leg is probably fatal. It could take a week or so, but it will get him eventually. Tough break for the rookie.
  2. People who post on internet forums these days are mostly old. I'm sure a younger poster will come along to contradict me, but I'm talking about averages here. At 51, I'm young for this crowd. I've only followed since 2000 or so, when I picked the Titans for my NFL2k team, since I lived near Nashville. Didn't even know the SB and that I had picked a good team for the game. I wasn't even watching the NFL at that point. Then became a super fan, like everyone else here. In the last 25 years, this is the worst team. BUT, I do think Ward will be the guy. He looked bad today, but he also had zero help. He's throwing to rookies. He's got the worst OL I've ever seen. His RBs do nothing to help him (again, OL). We have like 3 non-rookies that I trust to be the answer. Simmons (obviously), Skironski (spelling?), and Gray. I do like Dike and Helm a lot. In fact, it was a good draft this year. But you can't rely on rookies to win games when none of the vets are helping. Simmons's comments about leadership are interesting. He told the announcers he believes in the vision and wants to stay. But he also says we have a bad culture. Ummm...what?
  3. Except we also need a pass rusher, and you can get OL in the second round (RT anyway). But whatever. Get the first overall. Trade down to 4 and 19 (or whatever Cleveland will give us). Go BPA at 4 and need at 19. Get the top Edge and an OT. Get gud.
  4. I'm kinda scared we might beat the Jags. We shouldn't...but after how we just played, and the fact that the Jags are a VERY inconsistent team. I'm worried we might take one. I do want to see this team learn to win, but I really really want that top pick for trade leverage.
  5. Frank Gore had 16k yards?? Amazing. Remember his injury at Miami? Looked like he might never play again. Instead, he ends up an all-time rush yardage guy. Impressively long career.
  6. It just takes time. Ward has been good at every level, and he's kind of a late bloomer anyway (in the sense that he didn't get to Miami right away...he earned his way there). No one will outwork him. That's HUGE. People throw around 'you can't coach that!' too much, but in this case, it's true. You can't coach willpower and desire. He has it as much as anyone. He's a rookie on a bad team, surrounded by below average players (some of whom will grow with him and hopefully become above average players...Helm seems especially intriguing to me, and Dike of course). There was no way he was going to look good the first half of the season. Everything was against him, and he was learning the transition. I'm honestly surprised he's playing this well this quickly, especially against Houston and Seattle. If he looks decent against the Browns (who honestly might have the best def in the league...their offense hides that), then that's even better. But even if he doesn't, he's grown by leaps.
  7. The thing is, even if we drop down to pick 4 or 5, we still get an amazing player. We don't need a QB. We would miss out on the trade down, which will hurt. But we'd still get basically the same guy. Obviously, we want the extra draft capital, but winning one more game could be good for the team. I'm hoping for the rest of the season to be just like today. We look good, but sadly lose (sadly...sadly....) .
  8. Honestly, Dike might be my favorite offensive player on the team right now. I know there aren't a lot to choose from, but still. It's just fun to watch him play.
  9. Yes....but I think Mills was 16/30. So, he wasn't good. But yeah...better than Stroud has played this year.
  10. This thread isn't about your college girlfriend. On topic, if Restrepo doesn't get a shot in the next few weeks, with all the injuries we have, he may as well be cut.
  11. I can't imagine Lafleur loses his job. I think we are looking at the Salehs and Dabbols of the league (I don't care how to spell any of these names). Or we could keep McCoy. JK. We are likely to get one of these failed HCs, I would think. But remember that Vrabel was a failed HC when the Patriots hired him. Sometimes a guy just needs a change of scenery. Our team is bad because of the GM. We have hopefully fixed that problem. Whoever comes in gets a chance to build a team from scratch, with a top pick and a good, young QB already on the team. It's an attractive job, IMO. A team that can only get better...like literally historically bad. It can only go up.
  12. Restrepo wouldn't have gotten close to the ball. He'd still be five yards back. Anyway, I thought they elevated Proche for this week, which makes sense. That guy has lots of potential. I'm fine with putting Restrepo out there, especially if Dike can't go. I mean we are down to our bottom WRs. If you are being paid for WR right now, and you are healthy, you should be on the field.
  13. I'm confused. Are they terrible or are they cock suckers? Can't have it both ways.
  14. Part of me wants to see how much single season yardage the guy could get. But you are right. Let him concentrate on WR. He needs the reps. He's getting better at it. Why risk him returning kicks/punts? He's the best we have at it right now, but we don't need to win anyway. Put Kinsey at returner. Yes, I'm serious.
  15. The fact that all these bad teams are playing each other really helps us. Even if we win another game (won't be this week...but maybe against the Saints? Or the Browns? anyway, even if we win one, it's not possible for all those 2 win teams to remain so. At worst, we are picking 3 or 4. Top pick is still very much on the table.
  16. Peyton threw 28 INTs his rookie year. Many rookie QBs start on bad teams, for obvious reasons. This year is development, and that's all it is.
  17. The Jets and Browns play each other Dec. 21st. So one of them will get another win. The Saints and Jets also play each other. So that's another win for one of them. Giants and Raiders play each other....a win for one of them. So, yeah, there are a lot of bad teams this year, but they are also about to play each other and get some wins, one way or the other.
  18. I was worried we might win the game! Defense was playing very well. Fortunately, Latham knows what's up. He tanked drive after drive. Good kid.
  19. Wait a second. It's against the law NOT to report a felony if you witness one? Hmm...I have some calls to make.... @woolfolksunclesuncle , you may want to lay low for a bit.
  20. That's so sweet. What is it with Miami and Buffalo? Actually, it's Miami and anyone in their division. They suck at playing anyone else, but for some reason, they will get up and surprise a division opponent at least once a year....often more.
  21. What a great week for us. We didn't lose. Everyone else won. We have the first pick, and unless we win, no chance to lose that pick. And umm....I don't see how we can win. But it would be nice to see every team with 2 or 3 wins win another one soon. I want that first pick, and then to trade it for a HAUL.
  22. Didn't we release Hanse and get a waiver signing...Reese or something? IDK...a C/G guy. ETA: Moss...that's it. The list is depressing as hell, honestly. Other than Simmons and Ward, who on this team makes anyone feel good? I mean actually GOOD.
  23. Trade Sweat, Okonkwo, and Ridley for a 2nd round pick...see, a team gets ALL of our trash, and we get a second round pick. It's like magic. Also, I'm on shrooms right now....so the above may be a bit off...can't tell.
  24. I don't disagree with any of this. But at his salary, I'm also fine with keeping him. He's good in the run game, and we can pull him in passing. Maybe he'll get in better shape and get just a BIT more speed for the rush. Maybe he won't. I'm fine with trading him. I'm fine with keeping him. Trade every player that isn't under contract next year though... ALL of them!
