Locker And Drop Rates

I'm not putting together anything else because I don't see value in comparing Locker to Rodgers or Brees when he doesn't even have a full season of starts under his belt yet and his numbers to date don't even match up to those of rookies... but anyone legitimately interested in something else can put this together with ease.  SI.com player profiles have all of these numbers/splits and more.

I don't  see the value in comparing him to any starting qb because he has played all of nine games and in some of those he was injured. The whole idea of comparisons based on these parameters are silly anyhow because the qb is only as good as the entire team.  And since Locker has been in Nashville, the team has been sorely lacking in all areas of endeavor.

How did drops and other factors affect Jake Locker's completion percentage, as compared to other young signal callers?   Recently a question arose on TitansReport.com about the number of drops that

There is suddenly this false premise than Locker was showing all kinds of promise before his injury and then fell apart after the injury. Jake Locker completed 51% of his passes(about the same as 2011

And oldschool prefers his graphs in 3D.

Ugh.

Nice work but I hate articles about dropped passes. It's very subjective. And some of the best QBs can take WRs from the street and have them miraculously catch everything thrown their way.

Fair enough, though (for me at least) that would mean not discussing any stats or production because absent expectations (set by comparisons) stats lose relevance.

You are so far off it's not even remotely funny. Organizations do not pay a king's ransom or mortgage their futures to find a QB because they are only as good as the team around them. A good QB can elevate a roster and mask team deficiencies like no other position in sports. That is why they are coveted to the degree they are.

Not in their first year- they don't

Jamal. Amazing. Thanks.

That said, it was a a season of two Jakes. The Jake we saw prior to the injury, and then the Jake we saw after the injury. The guy we saw the last 8 weeks of the season scared the ship out of me.

That said, this may not be the make or break season, but it definitively will tell us whether he is worth continuing on with ... or whether we should start looking for the alternative.

I don't expect a 70% passing percentage if we push the ball down field. But if we are transitioning to a good amount of 'safe' throws mixed in with the occasional deep route, then yeah he has to throw a 62%+ clip and as importantly he really needs to avoid the turnover.

I'm neither sold on or off the guy.

I don't think its fair to call him brittle.

And I certainly don't think he is a bum.

But, he is the single biggest question mark on this team ... and has he goes ...we goes.

I didn't read it but....LOL @ that

You don't think the D or the Run game masked Wilson or RGIII more than the opposite? Obviously the QB is vital to the teams success but I would be willing to bet Wilson, RG3 and Kaep were very thankful they had a supporting cast and didn't have to do literally everything themselves.

I'm not remotely saying they are bad quarterbacks but they wouldn't be anywhere near what they were on let's say the Packers,Saints or any truly bad team who have shit around the QB position (aka the whole team). In the first year you can't expect a QB to completely mask every shortcoming a team has that you claimed Wilson Luck and RG3 did.

Yes, Luck played good. Yes, they went to the playoffs a year after being the worst team in the league. No, Luck did not mask every team deficiency to carry the team himself to the playoffs like someone who prag was referencing would have. Not going to bother looking up stats but just by watching the game you can tell he wasn't near the level that prag was referring to.
