The gap wasn't massive but it was enough. Side note, why do people keep calling the 18th pick in the draft a late first? This feels like using language to make the trade sound worse than it was at the time to make it seem more obvious how bad it was. Most of the people who do this also leave out the 3rd round pick which is not some throw away value itself. As for Amy vetoing the Henry trade, I don't think that was ever "confirmed". It's not inconsequential but it's not where you're getting the true replacement and even national narratives at that time started to emphasize how WRs are easier to find so draft and dump was being promoted over paying them. I would think most people would consider something like 1-10 early, 11-22 middle, 23-32 late.
