I know it's crazy

But 3rd down RBs do have value. He actually looked pretty good last season in that role

There’s a good chance he won’t even make the roster after all the RBs they added this offseason. But he was a solid 3rd down back last year.

On 3rd down Washington will have Burks, Chig and McNichols on the field. If Daniels misses time Mariota will be the QB.

I have no idea what to expect from Brown. I know you better be careful trading with the Eagles.    Brown is about to turn 29, couldn't practice much because of the knee and hamstring issues.

Great job by Eagles. Trade a late 1st for AJ Brown. Get 4 years of top production and a SB from him and then trade him for a 1st.   Well done.

I bet you he’s doing everything coaches want to see, all the little things. ST’s, blocking, never missing assignments, being a good teammate. That’s how guys like him put together a career. Good for him.

Doubt forget Van Jefferson!

To think my biggest mistake going into last season was van jefferson wasn't worth a roster spot... he wasn't good but holy shit we needed his bum ass lol.

And half the board completely forgets that they were fine with it or even happy about it.

I don't forget at all. I was fine with it largely because I thought his knees were cooked and team had had success letting good WRs walk and drafting an at least adequate replacement. Got that wrong af but I still don't hate the thought process.

That was so so dumb. Sure just let the guy walk for free. Idiots.

I still don't get why we don't tag and trade guys at positions like RB.. especially when they are at a level to likely be paid like a top 5 anyhow.

Derrick Henry signed a super cap friendly deal with the Ravens, his cap hit was very low. No one is trading for a RB with 12-14 mill cap hit(franchise tag). Plus the tag is guaranteed, Henry could sign it and his cap hit and salary would be guaranteed.

J-Rob was too oldschool and Ran had some of that too. They were too into intangible shit. Let's hope for more astute leadership going forward.

You clearly trade him with the premise and and plan that he reworks the deal. 20+ mil guaranteed over 2 is better than the 12 and 1 year the tag would be.

That all is way easier said than done.

Henry did not have a great 2023 season. He had 1100+ yards. He also signed with the Ravens for a 2 year deal that guaranteed him 9 mill, not 20.

Business wise you'd have to consider signing the franchise tag for 1 season vs signing as a free agent for what he got.

Also you're asking a lot from the Ravens to felicitate all this

Needed him for what? We "legitimately" won a single game all year and he had a grand total of 2 receptions on 4 targets for 17 yards in that one. The other 2 "wins" were thanks to a brain fart and a busted knee. He also only had 2 receptions between those 2 games for 24 yards.

I have a hard time imagining Bryce Oliver would have done worse had he been healthy but we could probably have pulled somebody off the street and they likely do just as good a job at X as Van Morrison.

I mean sure it's harder than I'm putting it. I just hate we don't have guys trying the math of it.

Ravens still thought high enough of him to do 9 mill guaranteed and that was all 1st year guarantees.  Franchise was 11.95mil in 2024. Wasnt miles away.

You tag with the full expectation that you won't be paying that much and neither will other teams. You dont expect the massive 2-1sts compensation at all, and you allow him to negotiate a deal. You could easily squeeze them for a 3rd/4th if they are willing to pay at min 9mil. But any pick is better than nothing.

You have to find ways around the FA trap- taking away comp picks - especially as a rebuilding franchise.

Why not transition tag then? was 9.5 mil, also allowed Henry to negotiate with other franchises and if they had a lower offer we could force them to give up a pick not to match... or just don't match and then we can still hope for a comp pick
