Turns out that the Seahawks at least for now seem to be the big winners of the QB carousel last offseason managed to dump Geno Smith and even get some draft capital then signed Darnold who has been pl

hilarious you think you convinced anyone of this.

It's going to take a few years to see how things unfold to determine Darnold vs Ward.    It's not black and white. Signing Darnold and trading down for a haul and getting Abdul Carter would

I do think he will be a solid qb, i just dont know if he will ever be the tractor as the pundits love to say.

He's highly marketable.  Here's a primary school kid declares he's going be a NFL QB.  So, he starts practicing, lil' bitty mojo getting his game together. Practice Football. #1 Pick NFL   When asked what he was going to do during the bye, he replies Practice Football.

If this kid wins a Super Bowl he is a legend.  Country boy who loves fishing when he's not practicing.

Thats great, and i love that about him as well(outside the fishing, its better than golf though). Iv got his jersey in my closet right now, I dont want him to fail, and I dont think he will fail. But I would be lying if I said I thought he was going to be elite.

I fully expect him to be here for awhile and be a solid qb. However that just isn't enough to warrent a number 1 overall pick to me, I expect top 5 play for that kinda investment.

It'd also be nice to have Njigba, Macdonald/Kubiak, and an all around far better team. But why let inconvenient facts like that get in the way of an "awesome" narrative?

I have no idea what kind of point you are trying to make here.

Nope. Its not that simple. The Infrastructure here would not lead to a productive Darnold. We'd probably have just 1 additional win and would be looking at Mendoza or Simpson praying we'd get the 1st pick for an unexciting group of QBs.

And if we didn't get the 1st pick we would either have to trade that draft capitol to get in position to grab one or we'd be doing what New York is doing which is betting on 2026 and 2027.

if they had gone after Darnold it would have been a commitment that was going to last more than one year.

The roster still needed a lot of work but they would have more draft capital to speed that process up.

thinking that Darnold was going to come in and make this team a contender right away wouldn't have been a reasonable approach...still needed to be a multi year rebuild.

People have a right not to want yet another refurbished retread to QB a team that probably would have had him garner none of those gaudy stats.

If the Titans up end with Ward, trading the 2026 #1 for a haul and Ward develops into a franchise type QB(which can easily happen) then this is the better route.

we would have the giants first round pick next draft...so the Titans still would have had a good shot at getting the #1 pick and trading for a haul.

It comes down to which QB turns out to be the better one.  The only advantage beyond that for Ward would be his rookie contract.

I find it hard to say that the Titans wouldn't be better off right now with Darnold, Carter and 2 1st round draft pics in the next draft one of which belongs to the Giants.

Signing Darnold signals you didn't think his one good season out of SEVEN was a fluke, on top of thinking this team was ready to win now, regardless of any opinions about Darnold himself. Are ya'll really saying this team was ready to win now? Would signing Darnold not have been mercilessly ridiculed had he (most likely) come here and looked like a bad QB on a horrible team?

People weren't wrong for scoffing at signing Darnold any more than people are right for already being out on Ward. Darnold looked mostly like shit on shitty teams from 2018-2023. Why do people think he'd look any better here?

On the other hand, if you sign Darnold after getting a good look at Ward at the combine then it signals you didn't think much of Ward at all. So if we had signed Darnold it lets you know a lot about Ward.

On the third hand, the Giants probably don't think as much of Ward either and they may not care about trading up and giving us a haul. So maybe we have to stay at 1 and pick Carter there.
