Extend Simmons using a roster bonus instead of a signing bonus   Also, extend Skoronski early

Crazy part is Borgonzi didn't say anything bad or negative about him. In fact, he said he was a good player who was ascending in this league.

Total worthless bye week fact.   Should Borgonzi release Sneed/Ridley/Pollard/Woods this offseason the Titans will have at least double the effective 2026 cap space (nearly $120 million) tha

I hope they sign Breece. They have the money to splurge on a nice RB.

There should be a few good RBs on the market and it makes sense IMO for the Titans to be a buyer - lots of meaningless cap, any deal will be done/irrelevant by the time Cam would need re-signing, and it may help make the offense more relevant, if not more functional.

Hall I think is possibly going to be tagged though, who else will the Jets use it on.

Yes their contract would transfer over and count on the Titans salary cap and yes they would just be cut.

And no I don't think AAS will fund this type of roster building philosophy.

They would still cost the Titans draft capital though right? like what benefit is there for a team to trade them rather than just cut them?

EDIT: I can see why for Watson - the Browns would be off the hook for the guaranteed base salary presumably. But there are not many players like that I don't think.

No in the Watson example the Browns would send something to the Titans (maybe 2nd round pick) to take on the Watson contract. That was what the Texans did to dump the Brock Osweiler contract.

Would be absolutely stunned if AAS sanctioned that type of move anyway.

right - it basically requires the player to have a guaranteed base salary/salaries to make sense though right? because those would be accelerated against the cap if cut, but not traded.

I could see some team doing this for Watson although it may still be too much to take on for most cap rich teams.

Perhaps something interesting - from what I can tell, the cap floor provisions in the CBA take effect in windows, of which 2024-2026 is one. I believe the requirement is, teams must have spent 90% of the cap allocation over such a period. Not sure what the recourse is for violators. I'm also not sure if this is calculated based on actual cap expenditure, or raw cash payments per year (including signing bonuses), but I suspect the latter. I'm not sure what state the Titans are in with regards to this, but they may *have* to spend significantly to avoid dipping below it.

Borgonzi should sign (if they make it to FA)

- Colts WR Alec Pierce

- Bucs TE Cade Otton

- Jets RB Breece Hall

- Jets G/T Alijah Vera-Tucker (injury history might rule him out but really solid versatile player)

- Saints CB Alontae Taylor

- Ravens EDGE Dre'Mont Jones

- Chiefs CB Jaylen Watson

I'd be all over Otton and Hall.

Absolutely no way they would tag Hall. He wants out and the Jets had him on the trade block. Read the Chiefs were trying to trade a 26 4th round pick for him but the Jets wanted their 3rd. Glad it didn't happen.

The Browns are projected to be $31.5 million over their 2026 effective cap.

I read Watsons contract's insurance will offset this year's salary as additional cap room next year

Similarly the Carr shenanigan for NO

I heard Daniel Jerimiah after the Chargers game talk about the Titans people telling him they have to get Helm more involved. He does the Chargers radio.

Some of us have been saying that for a month or more.  The offense targets Ayomanor and Ridley who have the worst hands on the team and ignores Helm who has the best hands. Makes no sense.

catches/targets

Ayomanor  26/53  49%

Ridley 16/35  46%

Helm  20/25  80%

I don't have any data to support but my gut feeling from watching the games in real time is that Helm isn't out in the route as much as the others and when he chips and releases, Ward is looking down field and not taking the check down.

This is a pretty easy off season fix.  Find a TE that can block either in free agency or the draft.  Personally, I prefer free agency in order to get an experienced guy that is ready to go day 1.  Shouldn't be that expensive.
