The thing we want to see is gradual improvement but I got to say since week 1 he has regressed a bit and overthinking now. First couple weeks he was getting the ball out much faster than he is now. I have a hard time saying he's regressed just like I would saying he was improving with such a small sample size. my biggest fear is we will not know what cam is come the end of this season...sitting with a high draft pic and a new coach. Ya, he never showed a consistent game. It was a flash here, something more advanced than you would see from a rookie in his first few games there. Then you would have normal rookie mistake. Everyone went way to far because he was showing a few things that looked like real qb play which we havent had recently. Once they pumped him up in their mind the only recourse for when the little flashes have not turned into outright good play is to say he is getting worse. He hasn't changed really, the situation is just untenable. Pragidealist, and Mythos27
IowaOiler
Ward has shown he can make the throws, manipulate the pocket, and extend plays. He's failed to show he can consistently make the right reads, throw on time, take the check-down, or prevent a ton of sacks. 4 games in, I'd say that's not awful, especially given what is around him as far as talent and coaching. I'd rather see him in the run-and-shoot then whatever bullshit offense we are running right now though. Pragidealist, and Callidus

Add in playing some really good dlines, a mediocre oline - its no wonder the Titans are 0-4. I remember the high expectations coming in around what ppl thought he could do in yardage thinking.. here we go. This is going to get ugly. Pragidealist
What is not being said enough in all the BC talk is that Cam isn't playing well. That's ok. He's rookie. But watch this and see what you think. I think he's doing what ppl said he did in college- he's looking to go big every play and locking in on his presnap. There are plays out there he is missing imo.. but you guys tell me what you think. Edited September 30, 2025 by Pragidealist

Bad pass Overlooks short crossing route that is open before they sit down in the middle of the field, he throws the bad pick. Good pass, a little high, but he has pressure in his face. Seam pass, great read, and he has pressure, but you gota throw it a little lower. Nothing is open, RT gets walked back and he gets caught up in the pocket with nowhere to go. Stares down the left side of the field before he trips trying to escape the pocket. Guy gets open at the right side but he never gets his eyes to the middle of the field let alone to the right. PA bootleg to the right, he is getting presure early on but he just keeps drifting deeper till he has to throw it away or take the dumpoff. What I got out of that - when he is on time and accurate the offense looks pretty good. When he's off, misses reads or his holds it for a bigger play - it looks pretty crappy. Not totally surprising with his history at college for a rookie qb.

The only play i would like to know what he was thinking was the play he stared down ine side of the field. Idk if he could have got back to the bottom of the screen to see when that guy was open as he waited for it to develop up top. Maybe he read the play backwards? Becauee his route was alot quicker to develop than the stuff going on up top . Pragidealist

My guess from what we know from college is he had reason to believe the bigger play might come open but the short quick to the backside was there. That's where he has said he ahs to get to his back side read faster. TBF- there isn't much room for error for him. He has to be on time and accurate. If he is off on either, the play is dead but that's where we are. What was interesting to see was that players were getting open. They weren't blanked with no where to go often.
