Bran is now weird.

Yeah, it was like he had no human ability to interact anymore. Kind of a strange character choice but also kind of makes sense as he's probably juuuuust a bit mentally distracted.

Well for anyone who cares to read this, here are my (lengthy) thoughts now that I’ve had a chance to sleep on it.   I’ll start by saying I'm not sure I've ever been more hyped for an episode

I loved the fact that Theon won his fight cause he has no dick. Haha

Really?  I heard about season 7 episode 6 spoilers but that's it.  I don't follow the show that closely though.

there's links if you look hard enough that have the entire season broken down and have proved completely accurate through 3 shows so far. i didnt read them because i want to see it unfold, but those that have read them have said some good shit happens (best season yet!!) and verify the accuracy

its part of the big HBO leak that occurred recently. actual episodes were released of other shows but the GOT stuff was just script summaries.

Yeah... because seasons 1-4 weren't about dragons, zombies, or magic...

Allow me to explain:

That was an irrelevant and stupid comment unrelated to what was being discussed as lacking, so I ignored it.

It's like Lost back in the day. They built a show with a great plot and excellent characters to go along with constant mysteries that people were dying to see the answers. It's often easier to build it all up than to give it a good resolution.

BTW, it's not just the show. The book is the same. If GRRM could get things to fit together perfectly the series would be done already. He can't even get books written in a reasonable schedule. The TVs show has to keep to a schedule so they can't just delay like he can.

This is something I've thought about as well and I think it's a great point. At the very least, D&D are actually finishing what they started whereas GRRM can't seem to do it. I truly wonder if he ever will. I can see him eventually finishing Winds of Winter, but I don't think we'll ever see the last book.

Pretty sure summaries of this whole season leaked months ago on reddit.

For sure I'm not going to get to hear Roy Dotrice read it. The guy is in his 90’s...

I definitely get the critiques of the "realism" since the show passed up the books though. One thing I loved about the first few seasons is how everything had a proper build-up. From the moment you see Ned Stark lose his head, you know this is a series focused heavily on the consequences of one's actions. Watching that scene, I expected (like pretty much every hollywood movie or tv show) that someone was going to swoop in and save Ned at the last second.

In early seasons, they had time to fully develop character motivations and they behaved as you would expect them to within the world. There was a certain formality to everything that happened. The rules were well-defined. You knew Dany wasn't going to suddenly be rescued. She would have to earn it. It's the little details like that that I think they've lost as they try to stick the landing. It's hard to put into words, but I keep coming back to this idea of the "rules" they've set for the world. Early on, the rules were clear, rarely bent, and never broken. Now it's almost the reverse. Cersei can blow up the sept without any consequences from the people around her. Entire houses can be taken out in minutes. And Euron can sail around the continent in the same episode.

Again though, the original author of the series is having trouble getting it to work so it's no surprise the show is struggling with this as well.

That being said, I've still enjoyed nearly every minute of it. The last episode in particular further solidified my belief they can deliver a really strong finish.
