Callahan is essentially fired and they're going to let him ride it out.    This is exactly like Brinker taking over the GM duties Carthon's last season.    Callahan was hired to ca

This move...a non firing but stripping of authority....keeps AAS from being labeled impulsive again.

The funny thing is there wasn't an easier situation for Callahan to keep his job. They decision makers were publicly squashing expectations and talking about patience. He basically had a free pass. Al

We beat Houston under LaFluer with Gabbert, 3-4th string tackles and a worse group of receivers than we have now.

Care to comment on LaFleur's coaching decisions tonight?  They are ripping him a new asshole on SVP right now.  FIRE HIM!!!!!

13.6% PA in a one score game. Anyone who doesn't believe better play calling would help this team is an idiot. That's 2 weeks in a row we are at the bottom of the league with its easiest play.

dude... you can't run PA when you are down big and in obvious passing situations... same as last week. The Titans are under 4 yards per play. They are constantly in 2nd and 3rd and long which renders PA ineffective

It was a 6 point game going into the 4th lol.

here you go. The offense had 8 possessions before being down 26-0 with under 5 mins to go. When they won on 1st down and get into managable down and distance, they drove into FG range. Its really to look at this data and see why their PA rate is 13%. The offense can't get ahead of the chains and sustain drives.

Drive #2 - 3 and out, 2nd 7 followed by 3rd and 7, and 4th and 7

Drive #3 - 2nd series, 2nd and 14, 3rd and 14, and 4th and 24

Drive #4 - 3 and out. 2nd and 6, 3rd and 6, and 4th and 6

Drive #5 - long drive, they won 1st down and moved the ball, shocker!

Drive #6 - 2nd 8, 1st down. 2nd series; 2nd and 12, 3rd and 12, anmd 4th and 12

Drive #7 - 1 and 20, 2nd and 20, 3rd and 8 (Ward converts, INT on next series

Drive #8 - 1 and 20, converts on 1st series. next seriesl 2nd and 18, 3rd and 13, 4th and 1 failure

I love that we went over this last week... and the same for years.. and @oldschool still ignores all the facts and papers.

PA's effectiveness is reduced but it is still as effective at minimum and most metrics show its more effective still - no matter when run and no matter how far behind.

I agree that they should be using more PA. I think they would also like to run more PA. I just think they're terrified or running any long -developing play behind this line. I know that in theory, PA should help but I just don't think the trust is there. Cam turning his back to the defense is pretty scary given our protection issues. Running PA probably feels like one of those "trust fall" exercises.

We dont seem to be running much run action at all. the option reads that were his bread and butter seem to be gone or all runs.

We cant get a guy to catch a slant or a seam to save our lives.. So maybe on those option reads we are just handing off for fear of dropping.

We def have protection issues but we also have players that cant get open and we have an offense where our most effective play takes like 5 seconds.

It gonna be hilarious here when restrepo is playing in a bit...  because the only guys that have done shit this year are the ones that showed up at 530 every day to throw with Cam.

We've been highly successful with under center PA this year...we just haven't ran it except for a handful of times.

It’s just a hard scenario overall.  Bad skill guys (or not enough).  Bad OL at this point .  Rookie qb who takes sacks and has  rergresed a little.

You can’t run PA that much . Even I’m sympathetic to Callahan and doesn’t think he can do a lot here

did you see my response to you a few hours ago with the drvie breakdowns? They simply didn't have the ball enough. Now that being said, at a macro view you are spot on. nearly all teams should use Playaction more often. Its a massive advantage and you don't have to be successful in the run game to use, as we've discussed for years on this board.

I just think it's a flawed way of looking at it. They would have a higher success rate with PA, ergo more opportunity to keep the ball.

I'm not saying it is some cure all, but the lack of it when it is by far the easiest way to move the ball through the air is glaring when looking at our stagnant offense.
