So far it seems like: This kid shot Kirk, climbed off the building, calmly walked back to his house nearby and got on his PC and started gaming again like nothing happened.

Then his cop dad turned him in a day and a half later.

This is verified? I'm at work and can't really follow the news.

This is off topic for political assassination but it's been brought up in the thread so I'll say it:

The good news is, the president is back out in public and that should alleviate some concerns about his health. Regardless of anything else, secrecy about his health and the potential that videos could be AI generated ... isn't good.

Twitter is brain rot for breaking news when there's any level of uncertainty. People are way too quick to reshare and it's a misinformation wildfire.

It's just the new real time information environment that exists in the modern world. When something is proven to be wrong, you correct it, make the point, and move on.

Or you don’t bother posting it at all if you are in a position of authority and say the face of that organization, unless you are totally sure the info is 100% correct.

Well yes, for someone running a big Twitter account - they should be vetting everything carefully for certain.

What I really hate about X is the algorithm - it’s a big problem that is difficult to avoid.

This is a general comment .  It’s pretty much a sign of the times .  People want info fast and usually don’t care much about details and specifics.  So X is perfect for that .  Just quick “fast food” type updates .  If you want to go into detail you basically have to read multiple tweets. And that I kind of hate.
