My hot take is Kimmel was suspended (and Colbert's show canceled) because his ratings sucked ass and all this Kirk stuff was just the convenient excuse for it.

 

I mean, who even watches late night tv anymore? Aren't the networks just bleeding money propping that shit up? It's nothing compared to what it used to be when Letterman, Leno, and Conan were at their peaks. I don't get how it's all lasted as long as it has.

I personally believe if one's going to badmouth someone (even as a joke), they should get the premise correct.  Politicizing the very public death of the most prominent conservative to young Americans by wrongfully pointing out that the killer was, "one of his own," is about as deceitful and heinous as it gets.  

And "comedians" like Jon Stewart get a pass every time they get confronted about a certain issue, their excuse is, "But I'm just a comedian... You're a serious journalist" bullshit.  If you delve into politics, be prepared to defend your position.

I'm all for talking and taking shit.  But if that shit's making excuses for the already enraged psychotic base, feeding them deceptive info, and thereby encouraging them to keep acting like raging/dangerous assholes, be prepared to face the consequences. 

And yes, I still maintain that the state should stay the heck away from censorship unless on the rare occasion that it endangers the lives of its constituents.

Sounds like you're just trying to flip it to try and put me on the defensive b/c you don't actually have any experience in that regard. I literally skip any post once it’s clear it’s copy/pasting AI responses.   This is a forum.  Where posters communicate.  With opinions and their takes.  Good or bad.  Agree or disagree.  At least a personality is attached to them.  Yes, sometimes quoting a source or citing something is fine.  But the scroll down, keep scrolling down, keep scrolling down, keep scrolling down bullshit is the closest thing I’ve experienced to ever blocking anyone here.  And I’ve had a lot of heated disagreements.  
 

This “let AI settle this argument” mentality is not only flawed - it’s a fucking nightmare on the user experience on someone that just wanted to read forum chat.  At least personally, my interest and engagement is gone the second a conversation devolves to that.  He has me blocked I believe but Prag in some thread copied AI for like 3-4 responses on one page and it took an incomprehensible amount of time to even scroll past.  Incredibly annoying.
