Position (group) comps--last year to this year

In the title. Let's go position by position. Do you think we will be better, the same, or worse at each one? I'll start.

QB: Better (I mean, we almost have to be. Levi was probably the 40th best starter in the league last year...yes, I know how many teams there are).

RB: Better, IF Spears stays healthy. He looks fast and hungry. Pollard is an average back, with receiving upside. I think better blocking will help here too, especially on the right side.

WR: Worse. This one is tough. I like our draft picks, but none wows me. Ridley is the only guy on the roster I trust.

TE: Same. I like Helm, but he's a rookie. Chig needs to step up, IMO

OT: Better. Moving Latham to RT is the right call. Our backups look awful to me, but honestly, OT was horrid last year, so...

OG/C: Better, but a question mark.

DL: Same...maybe better. I thought it was pretty good last year. Simmons losing weight could be good. Sweat with another year...no one behind them, though. IDK...I'll say same.

OLB: Same. Losing Landry is a wash, but replacing him with a rookie isn't going to be better. I really don't like our edge rushing this year, but I DO like Femi as a player. He's still a rookie, though.

CB: Ummm...I'll go worse. I like our starters, but I don't like anyone behind them.

S: Better. I really like Winston, I guess! Hooker continues to be underrated.

P/K: Same. IDK...who cares, I guess? Maybe we won't get our punter killed this year? That would be something.

Maybe he is using the this point last year wr room thoughts? Before it was obvious dhop was no more it looked solid, though nwi was also not a td and first down machine yet.

I’d say every position group is better this year other than RB, DL, and CB (all 3 are basically the same)

Hopkins might be comparable to Lockett.   Boyd was a zero and really anyone could replace him.

Overall, I think the above means we will win 3 or 4 more games than we did last year. Our schedule looks more favorable this year, but we have a lot of youth at key spots. I predict we will end up drafting around 10-15, which will represent a step in the right direction.

Ain't no way WR is worse. I could see you calling it a push, which is fair since they haven't proven anything yet.

I feel about the same way except for the WR/TE. Helm has already won this job. Chig is just fighting for snaps at this point. WRs are certainly better. Lockett is better than any receiver except Ridley from last year. NWI didn't even get 500 yds last year as the #2

Whaa??  Punter is a huge upgrade.  Especially packaged with the ST coaching.

As for kicker - I don't recall our kicker last year being all that clutch.  But our new guy isn't proven, so that is a question mark.

I'm expecting a jump from Sweat. I think it'll be better in the interior, but edge is the worst position group on paper in the league.

Edge is still better than last year. That’s not saying they will be great but Landry was worthless last year so things are at least expected to be better with Femi, Dremont, and Jihad.

I think Folk only missed 2 FG the last 2 years. Dude was money.  Big down grade at kicker this year unfortunately.

1st pick in the draft. The roster had nowhere to go but up.

The team is definitely better. The question is how much. 5 win team unless Cam goes nuts In my opinion, but impossible to say. Teams make dramatic moves in terms of power rankings every year and it’s damn near impossible to predict.
