Titans Uniform

Recommended Posts

Back to the name change, the dumbest thing Bud ever did was give into that.  The 99 team in the new stadium would have had the same success if it was the Oilers name and uniform.

Relocated teams seldom have changed names.  Lakers, Jazz, Raiders, Kings come to mind off the top.

I don't expect them to ever rebrand to the Oilers but it would be hilarious if they if only to say Fuck You to the Houston Texans fans who want so badly to be the Oilers.

Here's what the uniforms should've been:

I've been to away Titans games that had tons of Titans fans there.  They do have a lot of fans that have no ties to either Texas or Tennessee.  Maybe not as many as other teams.  But they have a lot of fans.

It is more than people would think. I meet native Arizonans who are TItans fans. When the team last came to Glendale, at least 25% to maybe as much as 40% of the crowd was cheering for the Titans.  Even though the franchise has lacked championship hardware, it has had plenty of charismatic talent that attracts fans.

I wrote this in another thread the other day but where I live in New England I run into fans when I'm wearing my Titans hat.  Or I'll see Titans license plates.  I even saw a house randomly that had a Titans flag out front.  I think a lot of it are people who rooted for the Oilers like myself who stuck with the franchise.  There's also people who started cheering for them in 1999.

It would be these number fonts IMO.  The ones from 1960 are not as slick

What about the helmets? I kinda like the blue.

From the Nashville locals, that doesn't surprise me but I'm not sure what the % of local vs national/international fans is.  On here, I know we have a number of fans that are not Tennessee natives/locals.

Even so, the embrace of the classic Oilers throwbacks the last 2 seasons is pretty undeniable.

Yup. I’d never seen so many people wearing titans gear and colors as I did for the Texans/titans game in 2023/24. It was love ya blue colors everywhere and tons of oilers jerseys that people had bought for the current team (so not old jerseys they already had).

I personally, would support a total rebrand back to the oilers. The thumbtack, sword, and titans branding is one step above a create-a-team in madden. Just my opinion. I don’t think local fans would be upset for long if at all.

The Oilers did have a decent national following based on the Luv Ya Blue years and the R&S teams and I think the age group split of NFL fans would support that contention.

Yeah the Oilers of the 90s were a national team.  Maybe not to the level of Dallas, PIT, GB , SF but the tier below that.  The Oiler games were on a lot.

And it was worlds better than whatever they are seen as now which is one of the most irrelevant teams in the NFL when they aren’t winning.

And yeah, they really shouldn’t have changed the name or unis.

The Titans of 1999 to 2003 were also a national team. Winning cures a lot of things and they were also seen as one of the better teams in the NFL. You could throw any of the awful Titans teams of the last 25 years in that Oilers gear and they'd be viewed the same amount of irrelevance.

They 100% did the right thing when they changed the name. It showed they actually embraced their new home. Reverting back to the Oilers would be the dumbest thing imaginable.

Basically every Titans logo sucks balls, looks dated, awkward and cartoony.

Titan's name is fine, though changing it was unnecessary and didn't really succeed because it's not like the Titans ever took over the college preference. The NFL was right on that front and the fanbase remains quite small.

Oh well. I've lived with the logo basically the entire time I've personally been a fan and fan base size doesn't really matter to me considering I don't profit by it in any way.

What's wrong with being the Jazz or Lakers?   Far more teams have relocated cities and kept original names.  If Amy decides to do it, you'll all deal with it.
