Trump’s 2nd term: American Carnage

Btw the white nationalist rhetoric I've seen on X recently was a bunch of Trump supporters basically sounding like Poke responding to this tweet from "America First Post"

Trump floats idea of expelling US citizens that repeatedly commit crimes, offering to pay other countries to take them in. “I don’t want them anymore than illegals.”

That should seriously end a presidency, I'm not kidding   How stupid would you have to be to be a minority, lets just say Asian, and support this racist?

Trump is genuinely an idiot running the country. Like an extremely low IQ individual. Bush was dumb in his ways but this is another level. Fascinating to watch him with even less guard rails

Btw, it's going to be absolutely hilarious in like 30 years when conservatives start claiming that they were the REAL party of immigrants and LGBTQ rights with a straight face. That's the gamelan, make people's lives as difficult as possible then pretend you were their biggest supporters and take credit for any strides they made in spite of you.

X is 100% a nazi-fest now. I've posted a few times how bland new accounts basically get bombarded with stuff like extremely racist anti-Indian (the country) content.

The problem the naive/stupid free speech people have is restricting this sort of stuff isn't so much about restricting free speech is it is about cultivating civil discussion and community that decent people would want to get involved in. What type of person wants to get involved in that?

Nazis/racists are a bit like ants, once you have them, you have little else.

Scoop: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ‘immediately pulling’ retired Gen. Mark Milley's personal security detail and security clearance; panel to consider demotion in retirement.

A second portrait of Milley to be removed from the Pentagon, Trump administration officials say.

So now that everything is moving in their direction….how long do we think it will take for the southeastern MAGA diehards to propose legislation to revive the Confederacy?

They don’t need to reform the Confederacy. They control the whole federal government now…

Republicans did the heavy lifting.
They fought to free the slaves then voted to give the black slaves a right to vote. Democrats voted against voting rights btw.

Dems capitalized on the black votes. Reps didn't. Like I said. Stupid mistake.

This is a deranged view of the political divide in this country. Liberals freed the slaves. Liberals fought for civil rights.

Yes, Democrats in the south opposed both of those things. Conservative Democrats who all split with the party and ended up becoming Republicans in the post-Civil Rights era. It didn’t used to be 1 party that was overwhelmingly liberal vs another party that was overwhelmingly conservative like it is today.

Black people overwhelmingly support Democrats today because the modern era of the Democratic Party is pro-Civil Rights and is better for them while the Republican Party is anti-Civil Rights.

I already debunked that leftist thought last year.   I'll post it again for your edification:

Now to the preposterous claim that Democrat party and Republican party switched places, especially in the South.  Of the 21 Democratic senators who opposed the 1964 act, only one would ever change parties (Storm Thurmond). Nor did the people that elected these Democrats throw them out in favor of Republicans, the remaining 20 continued to be elected as Democrats or were replaced by Democrats.   It took 25 years after the Civil Rights Act before the South started turning Republican.   Robert KKK Byrd saw no reason to change.

There is no radical break in the Republicans’ civil-rights history: From abolition to Reconstruction to the anti-lynching laws, from the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments to the Civil Rights Act of 1875 to the Civil Rights Acts of 1957, 1960, and 1964, there exists a line that connects the politics of Lincoln with those of Dwight D. Eisenhower.   If Southern Democrats were conservatives and racist, they certainly wouldn't have changed over to the Republican party.

You have never debunked anything.

You ignore reality and find some batshit crazy article to link to lying through their teeth as usual.

People as extreme as him and willing to talk about it? Maybe 7-10%. People with white supremacist beliefs? Somewhere between 15-20%.

Quoted the wrong post @Mythos27. Meant fully for @Titandan and his original question.

You know I'm annoyed by your willful ignorance, attitude, troll jobs, and long winded posts about nothing of substance. You know I hate racists.

But because it doesn't seem like you've really broached "red" America. I'll give you an honest assessment as a white American that has very much grown up in an Urban republican and rural republican America.

Mythos isn't off in his assessment of outspoken white nationalists being outspoken. However, find a district in middle & SE states that went 65-70٪ for republicans over the last 4-5 elections, it's a safe bet 65-70% espouse some form of these thoughts, vocal or not. Notice I said some thoughts, not ideals, as they don't all agree on the details. They're not that smart.

You would be fine going through those counties/districts, but I wouldn't set up there for too long because it would get pretty damn unpleasant.

So, there's the unpleasant truth. You'll bend it, twist it, do your sorry little pretzel thinking and not think anything of it.

But you can't claim ignorance anymore.

Are reparations and DEI civil rights or privilege?

And if they are, at what point do we stop with these civil rights programs?

Reparations don’t exist.

DEI is nothing more than companies trying to make sure that hiring practices are fair for minority candidates who historically get overlooked in favor of equally (or lesser) qualified white male candidates. And that’s assuming a DEI program is even more than just for show, which often has been the case.

As for when do they stop, how about when they aren’t really necessary to keep hirings reasonably fair for people who have traditionally been discriminated against.

Dang... Do you live in Tennessee too?

I would be surprised if we had that here in California. Even in the burbs and countryside, I don't the numbers would be that high.

Saw my first Confederate Flag in Louisiana while visiting a friend but everyone I met were really nice.

The more diverse the area you live in, the less you feel it. The Internet gives you a better idea. You can't go anymore without being confronted with these people. On the internet there anonymous and able to who they really are.

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/01/28/trump-medicaid-funding-freeze-paused.html

A federal judge paused until next week a Trump administration order that would have frozen the issuance of existing federal grants and loans until agencies vetted them.

Judge Loren AliKhan’s ruling Tuesday during a hearing conducted on Zoom came just minutes before the freezing order was set to take effect at 5 p.m. ET. At stake are funds potentially worth trillions of dollars.

AliKhan said her administrative stay would expire at 5 p.m. ET Monday unless she decides to grant a temporary restraining order, or TRO, as requested by plaintiffs who filed a lawsuit earlier in the day challenging the Trump administration’s action.
