Thumbtack
If we are drafting the QBOTF, we need to make sure the offensive line is solid. Not throwing late round picks out there, hoping Cally senior is going to make them serviceable year one. We have enough cap space to address multiple area's of need. With the #35 pick we can easily grab Edge/RT/WR, and I suspect we are going to be drafting a ton of WR's going forward like Green Bay does every year. TeamRamrod
I guess if you wanna throw a bunch of money at injured, old, or guys who are mediocre and then would be switching sides? Maybe I’m missing someone that’s going to be available. Alaric Jackson is the best one but I can’t see a way they don’t bring him back.
tgo
I think my favorite route may be to sign a young FA RT like Becton or Wills and then sign an old RG with Callahan ties to a short term deal (1 or 2 years), like Scherff or Martin or even Zeitler, while drafting the successor guard in the mid rounds to develop. I don't think you just throw a mid round rookie RG to the wolves if you're trying to protect a young QB. Same for drafting a guard 11 overall, which means we are probably going to sign Smith to the largest contract for a guard in NFL history. titanskick8851, Titans279, and BudsOilers 1 1

I could see Bill Callahan wanting to sign Wills and flipping him to RT, or maybe even Latham. Morgan Moses would be a stop gap for a few years, always been solid. there are a few others. They have to do something about RT even if it means overpaying one. Can't go into next year With Duncan and NPF (have to assume he'll be cut in a few months). Wills got benched and Moses is 34 and was not good this year lol And yeah they have to sign SOMEONE…..but what if we improved that RG position too though??? tgo
The alternative could be you sign Trey Smith to plug and play at RG for 5 years, then you sign an old solid RT for cheap (Morgan Moses) and draft his successor in the 2nd round at the same time. TeamRamrod
I’ve said it before but the packers have been annoyingly good at drafting offensive lineman in the mid to late rounds so hopefully Brinker can bring some of that magic here. Was talking to a Browns fan who is crazy like we are, he said Wills is a Callahan guy through and through and that he never clicked with the new guy who the Browns already fired last week. His biggest warning on Wills was about his injury history. Moses isn't a long term answer but he's been solid his whole career and would be way better than what the Titans have trotted out for years. Just a few that come to mind, I can't load spotrac right now, site is super slow. As for Smith, I wouldn't hate it but they need help elsewhere. That's certainly been the MO in GB and Seattle. It can easily get everyone fired though. Having a Bill Callahan however could help facilitate that philosophy and make it successful you'd think. They’ve drafted lineman in the first and second round too.
Thumbtack
Recent guard contracts would suggest they are a position of value, especially teams resigning their own guards. We have two on rookie deals, we can afford to get a RG/RT that are worth signing. Edited January 13, 2025 by Thumbtack
