nine
Remember the stories about how pissed off Trump was after taking office in January 2017 only to discover that presidential powers are bound by the Constitution…that he couldn’t create his own laws, dictate national policy, and rule by writ and decree like a king? He had get Congress to sign on and agree with what he wanted…which pissed him off to no end. He obviously took that lesson to heart…and for his second term he’s assembling a cabinet and appointing people to positions of considerable power and influence based not on professional acumen, experience, or qualifications…but based solely on their unquestioning loyalty and devotion to him personally. He’s appointing MAGA sycophants who will do as they’re told and obey his every command, regardless whether it’s in America’s best interests…or even legal, for that matter. I mean, hell….he’ll have the House, Senate, DOJ, and SCOTUS fully in his pocket; who the hell is gonna tell him “no”? Nobody will dare risk displeasing him and drawing his ire. And if the whole operation starts going to shit due to the incompetence of his appointees….that’s fine; he’ll just blame everything on the evil leftist Democrats. And his people will believe it because it’s exactly what they want to hear….affirmation of what they already believe. After all, Trump can do no wrong…it must be the Democrats. It’s good to be king. abenjami, IsntLifeFunny, and Jamalisms
Mercalius
Every TDS person sounds the exact same to me. It’s almost white noise at this point. I hope you guys feel good typing it all out because I seriously zone out after about the second sentence. It’s the same word salad with the same language just rearranged depending on the poster/time of day. If it’s cathartic for y’all to get it off your chest - do you. But no one outside of your bubble gives two thoughts about any of the spiels. Trumps bringing in people he thinks will accomplish his goals? Shocker. The anti establishment candidate is bringing in controversial/non-legacy people to fulfill roles when he’s openly campaigned on draining the swamp? Some of those people tagged with questionable labels and involved in questionable scandals from the same media/DOJ/leftists/RINOS he’s rallied against for years while he himself was tagged with questionable labels and questionable scandals from the same culprits? Shocker. Can’t believe he’d do that. Why would he put his faith in people who have his back over an establishment that slandered him daily for a decade and ultimately tried to bankrupt, jail, and possibly even kill him? What poor judgement to trust the people he ultimately trusts the most lol. Were y’all really expecting him to come in and cozy up to Lindsey Graham and Mitt Romney? Lol. This is a revenge tour. His enemies revealed themselves over the last eight years, and both he and his voters saw everything play out. And they want justice. And that may scare you. But everyone knew that going in, and that’s what was voted for. Don’t have to love it, but you will have to live with it. Buckle up. I certainly don't claim to be an expert in politics (despite my uncanny ability to 100% predict shit at times) but I don't believe there are actually a lot of "undecided" voters. I think that is political bullshit both sides like to talk about. IMO, there are not many people who are "undecided" at any given point in time. There are people who are definitely voting one way no matter what. Everyone else falls into a spectrum in the middle that is more accurately described as "voting one way but open to being swayed to flip sides". Especially in the last 15 years or so. I do think the economy and the tiresome woke nonsense did cause a shift, and possibly the assassination attempt/response, to cause folks in the middle to shift more towards the right when they may not have otherwise. But generally - yeah, you either hate Trump or you’d go to war for him. For most people that hasn’t changed. But small margins matter in elections obviously. But the they/them ad was absolutely effective. Not in any way saying it wasn’t. Ultimately may have been even more effective than the Together ad. But, attack ads do inherently turn some people off. And unity ads do sometimes perk people’s ears. Personally, as a Trump voter, neither ad changed my vote obviously. But I did feel some MUHRIKA FUCK YEAH within me rise during the Together one. And hell, some dumbasses still voted RFK in the states he was still on the ballot lol so who knows what affect any of it ultimately had. Whether folks buy it or not, the concept of a unity party sounds nice. But the they/them ad was absolutely devastating on a very divisive and important issue (as the exit polls showed) and should be bookmarked for Democratic strategists moving forward. If they care to actually learn about what voters care about anyway. Edited November 14, 2024 by Mercalius abenjami

The immediate response, seemingly, from leftist media is to still screech racism and misogyny. And even if that’s true, it was displayed by their own voting demographic. I’ve seen a few clips of some pundits attempting to look inward and acknowledge some failing platitudes, but they’re immediately shouted down by people raging at white people. Which of course, is how we got to here in the first place. Edited November 14, 2024 by Mercalius

Mercalius
Thinking short term. And this is very speculative. I think it’s in the Democrats best interest to let Trump go scorched earth for the next four years. Do what he wants to do. And subtly build a candidate based on actual dual party unity. An underdog story who’s “not like the other democrats”. Completely abandons the woke stuff but maybe a nod and wink here and there. Agreeable on pointing out corruption. But softer around the edges and not seen as a fringe extremist. The problem is, Vance is in waiting. And he’s extremely likable. The hope would be Trump goes so hard that Vance’s image is a bit tarnished and the softness blurred and a smooth talker (and I don’t necessarily mean Shapiro) can edge in and preach essentially a similar message without the drama of Trump attached to him. Here's one problem with Trump. He's so egotistical that he won't let his VP become a real candidate. Trump himself might be the biggest obstacle to his own VP becoming his successor. Let's be honest here. Would anyone be surprised if Trump tried to "fire" JD Vance a year from now and have him replaced?
