While I do think the NFL strongly encouraged the Titans to hire a minority candidate, they weren't forced to and certainly not Ran specifically. It's also NOT like Carthon had not been in the GM interview circle - he was in the pool of candidates in NY, Chicago, and Pittsburgh in 2022. Likewise, the internal candidates (Cowden and Ossenfort) had the challenge of overcoming being Robinson's top lieutenants and connected to the debacle of roster management from 2020 onward. In addition, the process and decision was made specifically with how they'd mesh with an established HC/strong personality in Vrabel. Something that obviously changed in 2024 with Callahan coming in. The idea the Titans simply hired Carthon wanting him to bomb and check off a DEI checklist is tard babble nonsense.
