Yeah, that one caught me completely off guard because watching him, he always seemed to process quickly and know where to go with the ball. Could be like Mariota at Oregon where the scheme simplified things for him so much that he looked like an elite processor.

Did you see the Ward play Callahan and Cosell drooled over on tape? It was actually an incompletion(drop) and nothing noteworthy just watching it. 

 

Ward is pressured when the pocket breaks down and has defenders around his legs. When the ball leaves his hand the WR isn't out of his break and is actually behind a defender. The timing is perfect as the WR uncovers right as the ball gets there and hits the WR in the hands. That's elite QB play and rare. He does it consistently. 

 

The difference is guys like Sanders are throwing to predetermined options who are open. It looks like quick processing and getting the ball out but it's just a one read quick pass. BTW, Ward had no one close to Hunter's ability as an option.

Yeah, Shadeur wasn't very good when pressured. His instinct to run away backwards and make things worse with his mediocre athleticism might be fatal. I do still think he has the ability to be decent but he would need to be humble enough to quietly ride the bench and learn from others for a while first and I'm not sure he's capable of it.

Shedeur fell to the 5th round because of his off the field drama.  I said the Steelers because they usually have good OL and receivers.  Second round was definitely a place where he had value.  Later, things like 'taking sacks was better for him than interceptions' was why his ratings were high.  I could see that pushing him no lower than top of third developmental QB.

 

Will Levis went higher.  Willis?  But somehow SS goes in he fifth.  It was FU Sanders(Deion).  The one thing I had not added was SS's personality and Legendary.  Also, other things we weren't privy to.  Rumors.  Then he goes to Cleveland the #1 team his daddy didn't want.  

 

They say the NFL doesn't care and would draft a politician if they could play.  But a QB with Pacman's reputation would never go round 1.  Imagine a QB smoking pot on film through a mask?  QB is different.

I saw this from Ward early on last year and even a few plays at wash st. My immediate thought after seeing him in a game at wash st was that this guy is a better NFL prospect than Penix.... 

 

It became clear during the pre draft process that Ward was a far superior processor of the field than Sanders and that was supposed to be Sanders super power to offset his physical limitations. They were dead wrong. Ward is an elite prospect and all the talk of gim being QB7 in last year's draft was criminal.

Jokes aside, it was clear as day Shedeur was levels below others. I saw him as a 4th or 5th round guy based on his physical traits alone. Add in the circus show his dad caused, and it almost made him un-draftable. 
 

The press conference after he was drafted was more like a fucking funeral.

Sanders' pocket ability actually isn't a great deal better than either of those guys.  He's far more polished as a passer, despite lacking traits to make a clear protection to the NFL.  But his pressure to sack % on blitzes is exactly the same as Levis.

I can't see Matt LeFleur milking production out of Sanders the way he did Willis last year in our game against them.

Idk, you have to put everything into the pot ahen grading these guys. If a guy is a 2nd or 3rd round talent how much crap does it take to be a 4th or a 5th? 

 

We dont even know if there is a teama actually willing to draft him, it certainly looks like everyone except the browns owner was willing to let him go undrafted.

 

The biggest problem with a guy like sanders is if you do draft him late you invite in a second media circus to go with the one that wa already following him. And the browns are already feeling that.

Shedeur’s arm and mobility are so-so, but that really isn’t his problem. It’s the lack of pocket presence and ability to read a defense that will prevent him from being a quality starter. That’s even if you ignore the off the field stuff.
