2024 General Election - Trump vs Kamala Harris

There's a lot to analyze as always but it probably doesn't have to be complex - people in general strive to see things as simply as possible. Trump ended his term poorly and that lead to Biden. Inflation and the cost of living dominated Biden's term, and people seek to correct that by putting in the guy from before. The average voter doesn't care that the whole world had inflation and the US has mostly done the best out of the world in handling it, and maybe they shouldn't - the US and each country should strive to be better and maybe just being the best isn't good enough.

 

It will be super interesting to see how this narrative works for Trump, because the economy won't be deflationary. Prices aren't ever going back to before. And for a lot of people, there is no real hope under Trump that their real wage growth compensates by accelerating ahead and giving the effect of lower cost of living. Given the sweep, there are no excuses now - Trump and the Republicans have to govern effectively to live up to their promises, and it will be interesting to see them try this.

 

A lot has been said that the US isn't ready for a women president, but I think the reality is the US voters haven't been presented with one that inspires trust and confidence. Either candidates as a man are still poor candidates. There is a lot to unpack there but BLUF I think Hillary and Kamala are pretty much the same thing to the average voter, and it's not what the US wants. It is conceivable a woman candidate can be different than these two and change this. Frankly it doesn't seem possible from this Dem outfit, and I doubt any is coming for the Republicans any time soon. I don't actually think it particularly matters that the US hasn't had a women president by 2024.

A Trump presidency is not big deal to me. We survived one already. For me, the tougher pills to swallow are that he'll almost certainly be able to appoint 2 new supreme court justices and will 100% skate on all of his criminal charges. That part sucks and dems winning in 4 years will not remedy any of it. Such is life though. 

Biggest mistake they made was not making the documents case and the obstruction after having left office the only criminal prosecution and moving it along far more quickly. Even with the bad judge, they had time to litigate it and get it to trial and they pissed it away waiting on the stupid NY state case and Fani being unwilling to recuse herself in the Atlanta case. It was an open and shut case that made Trump look really bad as opposed to the NY fraud case which was way too esoteric for most to understand.

I have a friend. His mother is an undocumented immigrant. He admitted today that he voted for Trump due to concerns about inflation.

 

I just don't even know what to say anymore: he's college educated, but he still thinks Trump wasn't talking about his mom.

Considering we've discussed and rehashed this story for almost that long, sure. And the sniveling about it gets more cringe every time. As does the incel conduct and questionable behavior.

Mark Robinson, who totally aligned himself with Trump and the MAGA turned out to be a hypocritical utterly contemptuous human being whose staff and state party abandoned almost completely got 40% of the vote.
