Nancy reportedly gave Joe 3 weeks to make the decision before she/they started to get more aggressive. That 3 week window was timed. I am sure Harris and her team has spent significant time building relationships and wasted no time in going through the rolodex when they could. Then the party as a whole- the big players knew if they were ambitious that this was a bad time. No staff, infrastructure and hurdles to transfer the campaign. Harris had the advantages. And if anyone turned this into more of a circus, they'd be burning capital. Lastly - the party leaders and voters are VERY motivated to beat Trump and already very tired and worried about the circus. Be the wise grandfather type who did what was best for the family. If Kamala wins then Biden goes down as one of the greatest politicians in history. I don't say that just because I hate Trump. It will have been a reflective moment where one's ego and pride were set aside for the greater good. Even if she loses, it was 100% the right move. The people lost faith and he needed to step aside.
