The Cowboys really make things awfully hard for themselves when they don't need to. Dak had a real case for MVP last year and is only 30; it's asinine to not have locked him down long term. I get the playoff stuff hasn't been great, but I don't really see how so much blame can go his way when career underperformer Mike McCarthy gets hopelessly outcoached by anyone with a shred of competence.

This is ridiculous.  Teams willing to pay non-championship caliber QBs top money are idiots.  Could he take the 49ers to the SB?  Chiefs?  Detroit?  Ravens?

The peoples champion Pretty Rickey once again had the early scoop he must have pretty good contacts with one of the top agents or someone in the league office who deals with these contracts because he has a good record beating the likes of Schefter/Rapoport to reporting these big deals.

His track record on draft stuff wasn't as reliable.

My money is on someone in the league office who has access to contracts and transactions.

I think this year could be really pivotal for the Jags. Another year of underperformance, and you have to think that Baalke and Pederson should/will be shown the door (Baalke should have been gone years ago/never hired at all but I digress).

I think the problem for them will be that their talent is just solid enough that they'll be right on that edge where they've been: the 9-8 range, maybe in the playoffs, maybe not. Really good owners are able to recognize a team is underperforming and will make moves even if the season was "successful" in terms of making the playoffs (for example, AAS firing Mularkey was a phenomenal choice that lesser owners wouldn't have made). I'm not sure Khan is that kind of owner, however.

Thus far into Lawrence's career he's been saddled with one of the worst two HC's in recent history (I never thought it could get worse than Urban, but Nathaniel Hackett found his way right up there), likely the worst GM in the NFL, and a bang average to below average HC in Pederson. I get that some people are low on him, but swap him and Stafford/Purdy/Tua, and he legitimately might be winning MVPs. Dude has been dealt a dumpster fire of a hand and has still shown extended flashes of great play (alongside extended periods of poor play, to be fair).

He's 21-31 as a starter lol. He isn't terrible, but it's a terrible deal for the Jags.

And for the tres leches,

I've told so many of you why Levis was an asset was because he's easy to move on from versus deals for guys like Lawrence. Miami is about to pay Tua. Cousins just got paid 200 million and they drafted his replacement at 8...etc.

Levis is a pure boom or bust player. Give me that type every single time versus a guy like Mariota on the front end or a guy like Lawrence on the other side who can play well sometimes while still being fairly mediocre garnering 50 million a year. If Levis fails then it will be going out slinging and then we draft a QB next year.

Hopefully the keep that voyage of the damned on its current heading.

Something something Tom Brady something something 6th round…

Would love to know the percentage hit rate on QB's drafted in the 6th/7th round or went undrafted over the last 20yrs that started and won a playoff game let alone were all pro calibre players.
