Well...at this stage it is all unicorns and rainbows. They haven't done anything yet. Did you expect them to come out in their introduction press conference and say they have to "play better, coach better"?

No, the knock on Ran is that he talks in generalities too much and avoids specifics when discussing the Titans in these pressers and doesn't really offer much with any meat on the bone.  I'm taking the wait and see approach and hoping for the best. I do understand the media's frustration.

Given meathead's lack of employment, I think it's already leaning heavily in one direction.

Agreed, but it is worthy of some discussion. Vrabel felt like he wasn't experienced enough for the title and that's one reason RC is under the microscope. I'm not siding with Vrabel but I'm taking note. After all, Vrabel was the guy who wanted all the power so naturally he's going sow those seeds of doubt about Ran.

To me - it's only a matter of time before Dennard is hired away and the Titans net a draft pick. He's an excellent leader and communicator. Good to have guys like Chris Harris and Ben Bloom on staff behind him who could be DC candidates in the future.

Don’t we have to have him for two years before we are rewarded the comp picks?

I thought that the 2 year rule was getting 3rd round picks over 2 years but I could be wrong.

That is also spot on but I also think the rule involves the minority candidate being employed by his current organization for 2yrs before the team qualifies for the compensation.

It's smart of Ran and the coaches to not go into specifics on what they like or want to run until after the draft.

We can assume it's a Gregg Williams D and Cindy style O... but avoiding stating that leaves us options and doesn't show our hand fully.

Both of you are right. It's two 3rds over 2 years, 3 if you lose two coaches/executives.

And I had to look the second part up...

The employer-club shall be eligible to receive this Draft choice compensation if:
a. The minority employee hired as a Head Coach or Primary Football Executive has been employed by the employer-club for a minimum of two full seasons; and
b. The minority employee is not the Head Coach or Primary Football Executive of the employer-club and is hired into the same position with the new club. There can be no break in employment between clubs.

Edit: I like the final line where there can't be a break in employment. How dare they not give teams free picks after firing people

I'm not sure why some clamor for that defense that topped out at 6th for PPG, like @BudsOilers and @IrishTitansFan but I personally don't see having one good year of success with a bunch of middling years in a passive scheme is enough. The team agreed and went in the completely opposite direction, just like they did with Vrabel. We'll see how it all works out.

So we need to hope Wilson doesn't become the hot name in next year's coaching cycle. Great.

don't worry, everyone knows the hot name in next year's cycle will be Mike Vrabel

Yes, maybe, history has a way of repeating itself.  Just ask Coach Ocho.
