Yeah, ya think?   Especially when you consider the money came from a group led by the same Saudi Crown Prince who had previously boasted about getting classified US documents and having Kushner “in his pocket”.   

For what it’s worth, I also recall an article stating that a fund manager’s fee is typically 1% of the fund’s value.   So for managing a $2.5B portfolio, Kushner would pocket roughly $25M/year.

Here’s one I’d forgotten about:  a lawsuit filed against DJT while he was still in office for illegally accepting foreign emoluments by way of various Trump family enterprises from which he refused to divest himself  after being elected….in direct violation of the Emoluments Clause of the United States Constitution.  

 

District  and appellate courts ruled in favor of the prosecution.  But Trump lawyers continued dragging it out until Trump eventually lost the election and was no longer subject to the Constitution’s prohibition against foreign emoluments…thus rendering the lawsuit inapplicable and it was dropped. 

 

Unlike previous presidents, President Trump has refused to separate himself from his businesses and OAG alleges that he continues to accept money from foreign and domestic governments through transactions at the Trump International Hotel here in the District. The Framers designed these anti-corruption laws to ensure Americans never have to wonder whether the president is working on our behalf or in his personal financial interest.

In a historic ruling in July 2018, a federal court judge agreed that the president is prohibited from accepting almost anything of value—including gifts, payments, and benefits—from foreign or domestic governments. OAG is continuing the work to stop the president from violating the Constitution and using his office for profit.

The DOJ inspector general clearly stated why he couldn’t go into specifics or offer any information about the investigation:  the report is still in draft form and has not been subjected to classification review.  
 

He cannot legally divulge any information until they’ve identified how much of the information is classified;  to do so would defeat the fundamental purpose of classification since all the information would already be out there.

 

The congressman obviously knows and understands this…but he doesn’t care.   He’s only interested in building and supporting a narrative  by asking questions that he knows the IG cannot legally answer.
