The fact that people can't point to any direct impact he has and have to use the whole "you can't quantify what he does" angle makes this pretty obvious. He's just not that much of a difference-maker.

I'll go back to the Chiefs game. As soon as he went out we had no one who could stop Mahomes from scrambling and dicing us up. Him being out one quarter took a W to an L. That to me is a quantifiable difference.

I also think the team sack stats with him in versus out being 1.5 higher per game is also a quantifiable difference. I agree though that Autry matters more.

Vrabel gaining more personnel control is not a good thing - regardless of who the new GM is - I promise you that.

Vrabel's comment "who is he going to throw it to?" about the receivers/Malik is a little more cryptic now.    I loved Jrob, but I love AAS more. She ain't fucking around. Ya love to see it.

When you draft Wilson to replace Conklin, then draft Radunz to replace Wilson, then draft NPF to compete with Radunz and Radunz loses, then Radunz is a backup LG, then 12 snaps at LT and now goes to IR, while NPF as a 3rd round rookie is forced to play with little help because you have the worst LT in the last decade in Daley (who is the only healthy starting O-lineman at this point) who needs the majority of the chip blocks, well... It's a clown show, queue the clown car with the 15 clowns stuffed into the VW beetle, I can hear the music playing now.

This is like 2015 except with a better roster.

Yeah, if they just contained Mahomes better.  They'll need a starting level DE/OLB this offseason even with Landry back.

His unscheduled appearance was due to the passing of Franco Harris.

No it wasn’t.  I watched he came up to the podium updated the roster then left then as he was leaving Wyattt asked him about Franco Harris and he came back to the podium to answer that question.  If he stays he will have more power he will not be reporting to the new GM.

I'll relent on the first point. That's certainly quantifiable and directly attributable to him. Do you think it's irreplaceable though? In my view, simply getting Landry back takes care of that specific problem.

Definitely replaceable. Even if we get 80% of it at a fraction of the price it allows better cap use.

Thats what everyone thinks until the pass rush takes a step back. Its not as easy to replace Dupree as many would like it to be. Now if they can carve up his 18M and do it by committee, that would be a win. Easier said then done. There is a reason teams overpay for Edge rushers.

I'm not saying it will be easy, but 18 million is a lot of cap space where we can fill some glaring holes.

And like I said even if it's only 80% I think it's worth it to claw that cap space back. Ctm posted how we probably go into the off-season after cuts with only 35 under contract and the worst line in football.

yeah I'd take 80% of his production but you said a "fraction" which denotes way less than 80% when used in that manner. Again I didn't like the Dupree signing but some here are totally delusional about what he brings to the table when healthy.

I meant at a fraction of the cost. I think we could get 80% out of a midtier FA and rotation.

.....and some other holes as well.  The new GM is going to face some compromises and tough choices.
