He is the AFC version of Kirk Cousins. The last two years he has been very successful, very efficient. If you replaced Tannehill with Matt Ryan, would you be as successful? I believe you would. If you replaced him with Kirk Cousins, would you be the same? I think you’d be the same because those are all good quarterbacks. Thrill Posted July 25, 2022 Report Share Posted July 25, 2022 I'm fine with Tier 3, though I think Matt Ryan and Derek Carr belong in that Tier as well. I do think it's ridiculous to have Tannehill behind Jimmy G. Jimmy G was in the most gimmicky offense in the league and still turned the ball over every single game. But Tannehill had far better playoff performances in previous years and was the sole reason why were the #1 seed last year. Like the argument that Tannehill needs good pieces to push the team forward is silly when he was throwing to practice squad guys last year. Kirk Cousins was throwing to the best WR in the league possibly and Carr had much better options that Tannehill did for the majority of the year. I think we ought to slow down until after this year. But overall I can't really nitpick this list. It's pretty good. And the analysis on Tannehill is accurate. He's not going to necessarily be the reason the team wins week in and week out. And you can't go to him before a game and without a doubt say you need an All Pro performance today and know he'll deliver. Elite QBs you can. It makes a "tier 2" QB get popular rated an elite or tier 1 guy. Stafford didn't necessarily really raise his level of play last year. Rodgers never has good championship games. It puts into perspective how amazing that Brady is. I would have Burrow higher. Mahomes at #2 seems high given his year last year.
