Check. To a large degree, it depends on what is being leaked. This kid leaked secrets that can undermine our efforts in a very public war. The actions of the US aren’t being exposed in some nefarious way. He just is a criminal. When the Pentagon Papers came out during Vietnam, Ellsberg was largely seen as a hero because he exposed wrongdoing and coverups about the war. Also, it was critical of LBJ’s administration so it’s not a political party issue. When WikiLeaks published leaked footage of violence against civilians in Iraq, it was seen as exposing war crimes. When Snowden leaked the NSA Intel (under Obama), lots of people saw him as a hero for exposing surveillance used on Americans without their knowledge.
